Best designer handbag investment?

I sort of want to pickup a Givenchy bag...think the shape is sort of beautiful to my untrained eyes.

Albeit I wish the front profile looked more like the side profile. See photos brought to you buy Purseforum (I'm considering the smaller version) Antigona:

The Antigona pretty much fits my exact specifications. Main compartment with a zipper closure. Simple design. Adjustable body strap. Roomy interior for every-day-carry.

Anyone care to chime in regarding bag shapes and who else makes a similar cross-body bag? Also would like to avoid the exuberant price that Givenchy demands, and I am sure I can probably find something equally nice or better at that price point. I am thinking more along the lines of artisanal bags, or a maker with a lot more craftsmanship rather than through a production line.

Some other short lived experience included Dooney & Bourke Dillen bags. Similar shape IMO but different aesthetic IMO.

i want this bag so bad in the small shiny leather but its so hard to find it.. the medium one its so much more popular

Balenciaga. It gets better with time! I can see myself keeping my City for so long.

Zanellato postinas. Coach has good quality too. Chloe and Balenciaga are timeless.

I agree with everyone who said that the best handbag investment is the one we use more often and gets better with time. In terms of resale value, I'd say chanel, hermes and louis vuitton.

I really think of the best investments as the ones I use the most and will stand up to wear. Under this category I have to say Gucci as I've never had quality issues with them.

I agree, I think Gucci has the best quality. I was just at my cobbler having a scratch removed from my Prada bag. He is located in the ritzy end of town and is known as the go to guy for your hi-end bag and shoe repairs. We started talking bag and shoe quality and he stated Gucci is the best quality hands down and based on my personal experience im inclined to agree....

I surely wouldnt describe a handbag as an investment, unless you get if really low prize and sell it forward. Now that`s an investment.

But anyway, who wants to hear these wise words,,eeh! Id say my best investments are my three Fendi spy-bags cause my passion for them is still as fresh as when I got them.
