Chanel seasonal caviar bag - gently used (around 30% or more off of retail)

Caviar wears like iron... so a Chanel caviar bag will look great, even as an everyday bag, for a long time... and the price, for a gently used bag, is worth the investment (under $2,500, pref under $1,900)... also, less structured bags soften into well-loved silhouettes, whereas some structured bags lose their structure, when not well maintained...

Alternatively... more expensive bags run aground of being prohibitvely expensive... and for most wearers, unsuitable for everyday or undesirably expensive... but some expensive bags are great everyday bags for some... in which case, preloved Hermes is a fantastic option... as reasonable finds, that are "worth it", can be found under $5,000...

GL!

I recently bought a Givenchy medium Pandora in black and have been totally in love with it. Yes, I maybe a bit late on the bandwagon of pandora, but I love its unique but functional shape very much. It works for weekend and week days, brunch with friends or outing with kids. So, it is a good investment I think!

Hi I'm new to tpf. I'm also looking for an investment, something I can use for ages. I want something classic, and I fell for Speedy Bandouliere 25 in de and currently saving for it. One of my aunts have speedy in de for almost 20 years and it still look stunning even she uses it alot! I hear lv's quality is like going down nowadays is that right?

I would say Chanel will hold its value and will be timeless, but as for the flaps, unless you go for the jumbo, it's not the most practical. I have the medium, and I can't even hold my wallet in there. In that regard, it's wasn't the smartest "investment," as I hardly get to use it.

Advice needed please- cant decided between two Chanel handbags- jumbo or small/ medium to chose? Help! Many thanks

Perhaps it wld be better for u to post the above post in the Chanel sub-forum at http://forum.purseblog.com/chanel/.

Personally, I think it wld depend on how much you intend to carry in the bag - if not many things, well, a medium/large wld be able to see you thru the day and the night; whereas many think that the jumbo is more a daytime bag and might b too big for a formal dinner event. Hope this helps.

Thank you for reply. As a new starter in this blog, for some reason I'm not able to post things yet. Apologies for being intrusive

You are not being intrusive. I did a search and this came up http://forum.purseblog.com/search.php?searchid=38108372, take a look at these threads and see if they are helpful.

Let me know too if you want me to help you post a thread on the Chanel sub-forum (you got to send me your post and title and I can easily copy and paste them into a new thread for you).:smile1:

I don't own any LV's, but I think that if you had a Speedy, you could hang onto that bag for years and years. It will never go out of style, and you definitely will get your money's worth out of it per wearing.

Anyone know of a maker that designs a similar shape bag? Unfortunately I am not a fan of suede. This is practical enough for me in terms of a main zipper compartment with an interior divider and cross-body strap:

It does come in black. I just don't think the suede will age well.

I have a Speedy that I have had for YEARS and I do still carry it...it is a timeless style...but for an "investment" bag, if you mean an expensive bag that looks expensive, can be carried every day, will work with nearly anything, and will hold value, I would go Hermès. Even a used Hermès Birkin or Kelly is worth quite a lot of money, and I think it's nice for expensive things to retain value.
After Hermès, I would say Chanel, but to me that is much more of a brand statement, so depends on your taste. I'd say 75% of people don't know what my Birkin is but everyone knows the quilting and the double Cs.
