Just a question... Who and how actually defines which brand is luxury and which is not? Chanel has been speculating for a long long time claiming their superity by using ancient ideas without introducing anything new to their customers. New generation does not worship Chanel like the previous ones, Chanel will take nosedive very soon.( it is already happening)
Yeah, I think women start liking Chanel when they hit 70 - 75?!

Exactly!

I hope Coach never tries to do or be anything that LV is or does! Coach has nicer bags than LV now.

LV is just mass producing products now with no regard to quality. A few months ago I ordered an LV wallet and it was so flimsy I sent it back an hour later. Lots of other people were complaining about it too. Old LV products were built to last generations. Now they start falling apart after a few months.

Why, for example, Goyard is a luxury brand? Said who??? Average looking bags, annoying print.. This is luxury?

I agree. On a trip to Europe I got caught up in the Goyard hype. I bought one of their totes. I got so tired of people asking me if I bought it at Target. I sold it a few months later. :p
To each their own but if that's considered luxury then some of the Coach bags definitely are.

New generation is way more conservative spending their money. In 1970s it was not much to show-house, car( or no car) and clothing. Now people of all salary ranges wear t-shirts and jeans, clothes do not mean much anymore. They became a disposable thing. Even watches and jewelry are not a big deal anymore. People do not show their money to public too much. It is a new style. Bank account, business class tickets, private mansion with gates, thats more like it. Comfort and security. Who cares about how they dressed?

I'm not into LV but I have a friend who is and she's been cooling off them too because of increasing prices and decreasing quality.

Target? Target? :giggle:
Oh, I know many pretty wealthy people who shop for clothes at Target. If they look the same, wear well, why bother ?

I agree...Lots of people get caught up more on brand than true quality.

Many years ago Chanel, Louis Vuitton etc. earned (and deserved) a reputation for quality that lasts a lifetime. Now I think most people desire their products because of "prestige" of the brand not because of quality of the products. That's why so many of their vintage items are sought after.

Thank God, there is nothing to fight about. Bag is a bag. There is no such thing like Michelin star in a bag industry( otherwise some brands would lose it long time ago). Michelin star is given for consistent quality. It can be taken away too...[/QUOT

So true! And to each his or her own!

Some of these LV and Chanel lovers take it personally. You'd think they were shareholders in the company. :p
