Oh my dear so sorry this has happened to you.... :amazed: I think most likely the spills caused by someone who was cleaning up the table :confused1: Would you be able to contact the restaurant manager regarding this? I had two incidents like this all at the restaurants and by careless busboys... :panic: one was my Louis Vuitton bag, and another time was on my brand new pair of jeans (thank god my Birkin was few feet away ). Hope H spa can make the stains disappeared...

HI babe - thank you so much! We seriously cannot figure out how on earth this happened but... I don't know that the restaurant would actually care. :( Fortunately I've made some progress as of this morning thanks to @docride ... I'll post a little more about that soon.

I had sweet tea drops splash onto my Barenia Faubourg and I cleaned the dried sweet tea drops with a qtip and clean cool water (mind you this was about 5+ hours after I made the stain as I was on a 3 hour road trip when it first happened). The dark tea spots disappeared as the water evaporated away.

Good luck!

Thank you, girl! I agree that cool water has been integral here...

I am so sorry this happened to you!
You may want to reach out to @QuelleFromage and to @Deloresmia, I think they both had experiences with successfully cleaned stains from barenia bags. I believe QF cleaned hers with water and then dried it quickly and Deloresmia sent hers to the spa and had the patina accelerated so the marks blended in - but I may be misremembering the details so please wait for them to confirm.

Thank you so much. Water does really seem to be the thing!

I’m so sorry.

I’m by no means a connaisseur, but if it’s water based, could dampening the area lift the stain?

If I have understood Barenia properly, I believe this shouldn’t damage the leather. If you want to keep the patina of the affected panels fairly evening I think you could dampen them evenly.

Please don’t take my advice as gospel, but I believe this sort of advice has previously been suggested.

:hugs: Yes this is what others have said - dampen evenly and repeat!

The title alone makes one cringe,
That said, this doesn’t look like red wine to me... far too sticky. Unless it was a very sweet wine... it looks rather like gravy or jam, syrup, something of the sort. And it looks like most of the stain is sitting on top of the leather? Which should be good news. I would probably do some first aid intervention to avoid the stain penetrating further, with a damp cloth... but better listen to what the experts, like Docride, say. Good luck.

I agree with you - it's very sticky so I was a little confused and could only assume that it was red wine. I have had some luck so far and will post more, but thankfully it was definitely on top of the leather, you are so right!

Oh I’m so sorry for you, this is heartbreaking.
I am definitely no expert, but when I have got anything on my barenia Kelly I have taken a damp cloth (just clean water) and gently washed it off. It may not work for oil based stains (which sometimes are absorbed eventually anyway) but if it were me I would take a damp cloth and try it on one of the marks at the very bottom of the bag. The barenia goes very dark when wet so let that spot dry and see if it has helped before trying on any others.

Thank you so much! Yes it is incredible how much just plain water helps...

I’m so sorry this happened! I know it’s such a shock to see those garish stains on Barenia when you’ve been so careful. I can assure you that I’ve done much worse to my Barenia Birkin, and it survived without permanent damage, thanks to the Hermes craftsmen. Years ago, I spilled cream of chicken soup all over the bag. I cleaned the stains using wipes until only the outlines were left. Lexol is recommended, but I’m pretty sure I used baby wipes on that occasion with no ill side effects. About a year later, I sent the bag to spa for an unrelated repair, and it came back with absolutely no traces of soup stains. Barenia is an ever changing leather which allows the craftsmen to do a lot with it.

Good luck, and don’t be too discouraged. Barenia is impossible to keep pristine, but it’s anything but fragile.

:hugs: Thank you so much. I really apperciate your words. I do have babt wipes which I use on my other H leathers but I wasn't sure that I could use it on Barenia.

I’m so sorry this happened... I know you must be freaking out! Vegas is my home store too but if it’s at all possible for you to do, I would take it directly to Beverly Hills and consult with the craftsperson. Vegas will send it there anyway and it’s better to speak directly with the person who is the expert. I have this exact same bag as you and just got it back from BH spa a couple months ago and am thrilled with how It was cleaned. Good luck! I truly believe there are no real deaths with H leather.

Thank you so much! We are actually in LA soon so perhaps I will simply bring the bag to BH and bypass Vegas. I appreciate the advice!

I have used water to clean my Barenia, but I have never had a sticky spill like that for more than a minute. Did you try a damp cloth on the most hidden stain?
Whatever it is I would not let it sit. So so sorry this happened.

Thanks, lovely - I definitely did not let the stain sit thankfully so I do feel like I'm makng progress with water..

J - so sorry about this! First like others have said, water only. I would dampen the area well with sparkling water. It won’t hurt the bag and sparkling water can be helpful with red wine. As QF said, better to do with younger stains. Barenia can withstand a soaking so don’t be afraid.

In the worst case, and the craftsperson can’t do anything, the spots are likely to patina over time.

I hope for the best for you!

:hugs:

Oh my goodness! I am so incredibly sorry to see this has happened to your beautiful body. I can only echo what others have said about taking it in for treatment. The leather resilient and hopefully there is a way around this. Hugs to you!

<3 thank you, babe - I definitely spent some time crying in the floor of the walk-in last night. Hubby must think I am insane. ;)

My B Barenia Ghillies was stained by soft drink (c) after 1 day look the same so I try My luck by shower him with normal water until he turn in to overall dark , then dry rapidly dry with tissue paper and hair dryer then every thing back to normal.View attachment 4256824View attachment 4256825

As an update, @docride was sweet enough to spend her morning on the phone with me walking through steps to remedy the stain. I would say that we are about 90% fixed and I honestly cannot believe it. Serious life-saver! :hugs: <3

I'll post some pics shortly but I want to say I am so, so grateful for all the posts and advice here. I was so heartbroken to see that this happened, but am honestly stunned at the magic that water works on this leather. Colour me a Barenia convert for life. <3

Thanks so much again for everyone who took the time out of their day to post advice and sweet words - it's truly appreciated and made me feel so, so much better! <3

Now for some good news. With the help of @docride who so selflessly took the time to not only walk me through a process that was admittedly very scary, but also to make me feel so much better about getting this bag back to normal, I can happily report that I was able to completely repair my B! :D

A few words to preface.. First, I hope that this thread helps someone at some point because honestly, this experience was not fun! Second, this took me the the better part of last night and literally all of today to pull off... so if you're ever in a situaton where you are trying to reverse/remedy damage on Barenia... patience. is. key. I literally started this process last night, worked on the bag all throughout the day, and am finally to a point where I can post pics showing that it is seriously like nothing happened to it! :)

I won't post all of the gory details of getting this back back to its beautiful self, but it definitely was a huge process. Anyhow, here are pics some progress as well as after pics. Can you believe how amazing this turned out? Thanks so much again, you guys! <3

I was late to this thread and it broke my heart as I scrolled thru the pictures. I fast forwarded to the last page to feel relief that your bag has been repaired !! So happy for you and a shout out to @docride for walking you thru this horrifying experience.

You mentioned that water did the magic. Care to share more details of your step by step process so we can learn a few tricks for future reference.

Again. I'm so glad that it worked out.
