Barenia + Red Wine

This is not red wine related but I am hoping someone can help. I have gotten sunscreen on my evercolor leather bag and I've tried water but the liquid seems to get in between the grain and I cannot get it out. Any suggestion help. I am too scared to try anything else other than water...
Maybe try the talcum powder and leave overnight? Honestly I would reach out to Docride. She’s seen it all.

I searched quite extensively and could not find an answer, so I wanted to post as I am quite devastated right now.

Tonight, my husband and I were at dinner. We have no idea how this could have possibly happened, but what appears to be red wine (I am really not sure, but it's dark and sticky) was spilled all over my Barenia B30. I had text my SA to ask if it could be remedied via spa, but she said that she did not think this is fixable; I am absolutely beyond heartbroken.

I was hoping that someone could perhaps chime in to say whether they have experienced something similar, and if there is some remeditation possibility here. Pics to follow, and I did message docricde, but any advice would be truly appreciated. <3

I am so late to this thread. I don’t know if you’ll read this. But, I just want to say how happy I am that you
brought your barenia back to life and that you make me want and dream for a barenia now.

Also, your story just shows, with all due respect, how some SAs (not all) know little about Hermès leathers and skins apart from making you buy things to get offered items on your wishlist. It somewhat angers me that your SA didn’t even try to do something more to comfort you, like at least had you bring your bag in to take a closer look. Just to give you hope, or the idea that they’ve/you’ve done everything you can (in the instance that it wouldn’t be fixed, but HA it did!!) to fix the bag. My parents always taught me to be classy and proper. But, if I were you I’d love to flaunt to your SA how I was able to fix my bag that she deemed un-fixable.

Since this thread seems to have revived....I will reiterate my experience here that with Barenia, water really doesn't hurt it. So, a soft, damp cloth used gently is a good start. I have taken a big splotch of honey off Barenia successfully this way (a Bastia thank goodness, not a bag). Most important is to get whatever it is off fast while it's on the surface.
Togo and Clemence are pretty good too if you get to them fast with water or Lexol wipes. These are finished leathers unlike Barenia, so if you can get a spill off the surface fast you should be in good shape. I've seen red wine come off white Togo (not mine) and coffee come off Gold Togo, with a quick wet napkin, and I have taken a pen mark off Clemence with Lexol.
I wouldn't use any kind of wipe on Barenia and would never use a baby wipe on any bag.
The real issue with a spill is that if you wait for a day or so to run to Hermès it may sink in. If your leather is not water sensitive it's probably worth getting the substance off the leather as much as you can :flowers:

Hi! :hugs:

Yes, with all due respect, there are many SAs out there who are simply retail employees - and there is nothing wrong with that; however, they do not know nor understand the care and maintenance involved with specific leathers et al. My SA is so lovely, but she really did nothing here.

It has been nearly two years since this happened, and I have "washed" this bag with water a few times since. It still looks new and is honestly the most durable, resilient pieces I have ever owned. This was my first Barenia piece, admittedly, and this has become my favourite leather that H makes since this whole situation occured. It's gorgeous AND super tough. A win!
