Do you have any bags that you thought about purchasing, and glad you didn’t in the end?

For me those are:
Lindy 26: Loved it at first, but the more I looked at it, it just didn't seem that interesting anymore. The bag seemed too boxy for my liking. Also, it is not that easy to get one. I don't like this "play hard to get" game.

Picotin 18/22: I figured if I had gotten this bag, it wouldn't even allow me to wear it on my shoulder, let alone crossbody. It is just not versatile enough for me to justify the price tag.

Prada Leather Crossbody Bag: The more I looked at it, the more I realized it didn't go with my wardrobe.

When I see a bag that interests me, I’d do some research online, keep that web browser open and have it in my mind, imagine the outfits that would go with it...and surprisingly after some time (like a month or two), I figured that I didn’t really like it anymore. That’s a good thing, saved me lots of money .

I have so so many. And it is primarily because there is not one designer boutique within 4 hours of where I live. So the only way to buy any designer bag is to order it online, so I obsess over a bag, but impulse purchases are a bit more challenging. Mostly because I can’t go into the store and pull the trigger, and I’m so afraid of making a costly mistake.

That’s a good thing for you, financially speaking! Likewise, I have been eyeing the Goyard Artois MM, and I don’t live in a city that has a Goyard store. I thought - great, that saves me money, I’ll buy it when I travel (whenever that is)!

I know some people love online shopping, so it’s easy to click, click, click, and tah dah... bought! I am not one of them. Online shopping gives me anxiety.

Love this thread! Here are some of mine:

- Dior Book Tote in Toile de Jouy: the print is STUNNING, but I ultimately decided against it because 1. I don't believe the canvas will hold up over time, 2. The top handle style without a shoulder strap is impractical, 3. I dislike the large CHRISTIAN DIOR written across it and think that will date quickly
- BV Pouch bag: I realized I only liked it because of the way it was styled on Instagram and it's super impractical for me
- Hermes Constance: The logo is just too loud for me and I realized I don't gravitate towards long shoulder strap bags
- Chanel bucket bag from 19B(?) with the rolled up sides: I thought it would get smushy looking over time and judging by the ones I see on preloved sites, I was right
- LV Giant Monogram Speedy: realized I just would never wear giant monogram, not sure what I was thinking on that one

I have plenty more, but these are some that come to mind. I also have a (shorter) list of items I'm sad I passed on... Chanel mini in the ribbon tweed from SS is number 1 on that list.

I love your list! The Dior Book Tote in Toile de Jouy is not practical for where I live. We have rain most of the year. This tote is just going to be soaking wet, then it may smell stuffy after a while. Same here, I don't like the big Christian Dior right across at the front. It is just too loud.

Omg, I see the BV pouch online everywhere. I don't see myself buying one though.

Hermes Constance, yes, agree, it is too loud. Also, I imagine with the way I use my bags, the big H is going to get scratched in no time. Then, that is really going to bug me. Lol. I buy bags to use, not to display, so I don't baby my bags .

Chanel bucket bag - I imagine after years of usage, it probably won't hold its shape very well.

LV Giant Monogram Speedy: Yes, agree. I refuse to buy anything with giant monogram! When I was at the store and pointed at the pochette metis to have a look, the sales associate thought I wanted to look at the On the Go Tote. I thought - omg, no, I'd never buy that .

One way to think of the bags that you have missed is - that saved me money! Lol. I should have bought that Goyard Artois MM bag when I was in Paris. But, oh well.

Very true! Good news about the Artois is that it's still around and hopefully you'll be able to get it next time we're able to travel :)

Let's see...
M Bayswater (heavy, not great for shoulder carry)
M Del Rey (there are better takes on a Speedy type bag for less money out there)
MG Bucket bag (just not my thing, as I noticed when I tried out a Kipling bucket bag)
LV Noe GM (see above)
Gucci Swing tote (overpriced, CS baaaad)
Gucci Ophidia vintage crossbody (see above)
A thousand LC leather bags (just not worth it, as the repairs seem to be only good for fixing the corners of nylon bags)
Furla Metropolitan Small (the shoulder strap is too short)
LV mini pochette (just not worth the money)
I think that might be all. Then again it might not. The list is long but distinguished.

Recently any Dior book tote. I like it, but it's really not that practical as it's an open tote, has no shoulder strap, too big and bulky for every day wear.

Bottega veneta BV clasp. I really wanted this to work, but it's a tad too small and impractical. I already have items in the same size that don't see much use...

A few smaller bags that I like but would end up not using because they are too small to hold sunglasses and essentials. Kelly to go, some Dior bag and Jacquemus...

I have the new Mulberry Bayswater bag in small (small or medium, not sure) that I got 4 years ago. I still love it. I don't use it as much as I got other bags. I don't carry it on my shoulder. I either carry it using the top handle or crossbody .

What is LC stands for?

LV mini pochette seems to be very popular, but I don't own any and have no interest in getting any at the moment. I heard there is a price increase. I have gotten all the classics I want from LV. Unless something really catches my eyes, otherwise I'll be putting my money elsewhere :amuse:.

I had the M Ledbury, which is the same size as SBS. I recently made a switch with a lovely lady and got an olive green Taylor which I love. She got the Leddie and she's in love with it.

LC is short for Longchamp. I used to be a fan, but after a couple of bad experiences with their repairs department I decided it was time to move on.

The LV Mini Pochette is really handy but I think the price for a canvas item is getting a bit ridiculous. It's also really hard to find new. Mum got me a Coach Nolita 19 for my bday a couple of years ago, and I never looked back. It's a tiny bit bigger than MP but it's all leather and the price...well, if I remember correctly the Nolita was on sale and it was under 100€.

This may be contentious, but more than any other, I'm glad I didn't get a Chanel Jumbo (and esp one in lambskin)

So, so pretty but:
- Too large for my frame (but also didn't fit the same amount as smaller bags? like, how...?!?!?!)
- I mostly wear bags as crossbody, and the Jumbo as a crossbody looks like a messenger bag; *not* cute on me
- The chain is really heavy! (so is the bag itself!)
- Exactly the right size for me to bang it into literally everything: corners, shelves, other people
- Super delicate leather! (so beautiful...so delicate...)
- Overall unpractical design for my lifestyle (e.g., back pocket large enough to fit my phone, but the only way to fit a phone in without damaging the leather is to remove the phone from its case)

A real pity, because if I'd kept it, I would have made bank on the resale given price increases, but buying a bag and then not using it (and then reselling it) is still a loss in my book.

Chanel 19 - bought it in a large size and didn't like it. It looked way too big on me and did not hold its shape. Returned it. Thought about buying it in the small size, but decided not to since I don't love the chain and I already have a few other Chanel bag that I like more.
Dior book tote - I love this bag, but did not purchase it because I heard it wears quickly. It's also extremely pricey for a tote and I wouldn't get much wear out of it.
Dior saddle - I do like the way this bag looks, but I'm a dress very girly/feminine and I don't think this bag would match with my style.

To me, the Dior book tote may look dated in a year or two. The Dior saddle bag, personally, I just don't like the shape of it. Others may love it though .
