Yes. You need to tell them that you do NOT want contrast piping. Otherwise They will give you piping.

Is it true that by "default" if you place an SO for a contrast lined Birkin, the piping colour is automatically matched with the colour of the lining inside? eg. If you ask for black birkin/orange lining, the piping will be orange as well, unless you specifically ask you want the lining to be black as well?

If that's true I find it rather weird, shouldn't it be the other way round - eg. they'll do contrast piping only if you ask for it?
For those of you who have done the SO for contrast lining recently, did you have to ask them not to contrast line the piping as well?

Actually, I've placed several special orders and have never had to tell them to not do contrast piping. They usually have a few different preset options and it depends on which one you choose.

That must be something new , as I didn't mention anything about the piping at all when putting in my SO.........and mine arrived without contrast piping.......

I remembered asking for a bleu contrast stitching , but was told right there and then that Paris would not accept it , better leave it as white stitching per ordinary Barenia.........

Opps....sorry that I did not make myself clear. It is not a 'default' as such. There are a few preset options. I mean if you do not want contrast piping, you need to tell your SA, otherwise, some SA/SM or the craftsman will pick either for you.

From what I understand "Version 1" should be chosen (there are/were 4 different SO versions available according to the information I have) and then for piping the SA can select "NONE" (meaning tone-on-tone or same color) or "CONTRAST".

Latest acquisition....bicolor Ardennes 40cm Birkin black and rouge vif
One I have been dreaming of forever!
I would do a fancier photo shoot but am on bedrest with the twins :(

Beautiful! What is the material Ardennes like? We don't see much of this material here these days much less in the shop.

It is discontinued. I also own a 40 Kelly in Ardennes so I have a little experience with it. I love how this Birkin is holding it's shape. However my Kelly is floppy. It has a slight sheen to it which I like. My Kelly got a scratch on it so I wouldn't say it is as scratch resistant as Togo. A lot of people seem to love it and hate that it was discontinued based on some old threads I read years back before I bought the Kelly. I have owned chèvre in a Birkin before and much prefer Ardennes to it on a bag. I love chèvre on my wallet though. I have handled clemence before and it lacked the sheen and seemed more similar to my floppy Ardennes Kelly. I also own an older Togo and the Ardennes Birkin has more sheen but has a comparable stiffness.

I am wondering if SO experts can shed light on the following: Do you find yourself having to dress around the contrast interior lining, especially when the interior is a very bright contrast lining? Thank you so much!

I have an etoupe Birkin with rose tyrian interior. My favorite way to carry it is with the straps slightly undone, and as you can see in my picture the color is very obvious. I only carry it that way if it coordinates with my outifit. Otherwise, I carry it with the straps latched and the flap tucked in. Small slivers of the inside color can be seen, but only from certain angles. It's not obvious head on and it isn't obvious enough for it to clash with what I'm wearing. Hope this helps!
