So I've noticed the material around the zipper is discolored and also the brass pieces on the bag seem somewhat discolored. This bag was purchased in Feb 2009. I've only carried it in the summer months. Any idea of what this is? Has this happened to anyone else? Is this something LV would repair? Thanks!

I believe it's a reaction with the brass. Do you live in humid climate? I have a luggage tag where this is happening at where the brass pieces meet the leather.

That looks like that's exactly what it is...looks like the brass is turning and it's bled onto the bag. Obviously that happens to brass and then it can b polished shiny but that's the first time I've seen it bleed onto the bag like that. I'm sorry! I would call LV and see what they can do for you.

Well I was told that they have never seen this before and suggested that I bring it in tomorrow to let the leather specialist look at it byte said they don't use brass so it's not a reaction. They did give me a quote of $105 to replace the zipper.

You need to tell them they need to replace the zipper for free . You have to use the zipper to get in pan out of your purse and its not your falt it got like that . It looks like brass rust . good luck

So I was told it was normal wear and tear so I will have to pay to replace the zipper. The SA I worked with stated that my bag was in excellent condition and that she has seen this on bags that were at least 10 years old. She said she was going to talk to the shop about reversing the charge but they came back with the answer that it's normal wear and tear. She said it is the brass tarnishing due to humid conditions or water. I don't recall my bag ever getting wet and I don't consider TN to be humid but who knows. Well I'm getting it replace and hopefully will be happy. Thanks!

TN is not that more humid than most places plus it's not even humid all year. That is wrong that they considered that normal. It's only normal for them cuz they want out of repairing it for free. Also who is to say it wont happen again in another couple of years?! I'm sorry u didn't get better news but mayb with a repair things will work out better.

IMHO it's kind of silly the way so many people on this fourm expect free repairs on bags that are several years old. I understand if a bag is defective and it's clear from the get go or within a short period of time. I'm sure it's not super humid year round in TN but I would bet money that it's pretty humid there in the summer.
