The story behind
Renowned animal painter and worldly portraitist, Xavier de Poret (1897-1975) is famous for his hunting scenes and studies of horses and birds. At the heart of a scarf released for the first time in 1956, calm and pensive basset hounds are designed in different postures. A hunting dog responsible for retrieving game, the basset is known for its intelligence and loyalty. The artist has affectionately sketched his furry friend, whose depth of vision is enhanced by a plain background.

The story behind
At hunting meets or equestrian competitions, horses wait in their "grande tenue", or ceremonial dress, of blankets in wool broadcloth and sheets in monogrammed checked cotton. Hermès' archives include a unique collection of these emblems designed to identify teams by their owners' monograms, the oldest of which date from the era of Napoleon III. The stamped monogram of a viscount, with highly graphic lines, sits opposite that of a Romanian prince, while a lion merging from a ducal crown faces those of Napoleon III and a maharajah. The center displays the monogram of Émile Hermès, a passionate collector responsible for the House's collective memory.
I love the roping details of Grand Tenue. I have the shawl version from 2014 and LOVE it. The colors are blue, yellow, orange, red, and green. I missed out on the first version of the 90 silk, so the lavendar, blue, green one may have to come home with me. I seriously need to give my wallet a pep talk before these beauties come in. I do like the color families. I am seeing some pretty combinations of colors that I don't have in my current collection. Thank you for posting these pics!!

I am loving the beige/blue/red one and am mesmerized by the folds and shading. Usually, scarves with inanimate objects are not my thing but this is a beauty.

I know! I keep going back to see the all of the colorways. I may change my mind and opt for a warmer pallete. I do love the folds! It is amazing how 3-D they look. The blue/ beige/ and red is divine. I need to study that one again. So many options!

Ack. CW 16 Plumes en Fete may be my first 140 purchase... While the practical side of me says to go for a more neutral 140, the orange-loving side of me may just win this battle.
I’m loving the blue CW 12. I just purchased the intense blue 90 version, with its blue, lavender and green feathers, and figured I’d get the red for my first 140, but the feathers in the red are all fairly beige. I adore all the feather colors in the blue 140. Just what I need to brighten up a cold winter day.
