Hi there just bought a Vivienne Westwood black heart orb bag from ebay and received it today. It is a present for my girlfriend but im suspicious that it could be a fake. It was at a buy it now or best offer price of £90 and I offered 70 and won. Ive been reading a few guides to help me but could really use a second opinion to help me confirm my thoughts. Here is a few pictures of the bag at http://s813.photobucket.com/albums/zz57/Fordfan_2010/

Also the link for the bag on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160457712202&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

Many thanks

I joined just to respond to your thread.
I googled it and apparently the best way to spot a fake is to make sure the style you bought is an actual style made by the designer first of all. Secondly look for pictures of an authentic bag and closely compare the two in every minor detail to make sure they match up.
There are apparently some small details that the inside plate of Vivienne Westwood bags that remain consistent.
I found this guide to have a lot of detail on what to look for in a fake

If you need more information simply google "how to spot a fake purse"
There are many guides and videos on how to spot a fake designer purse. They are talking about all designers in general and not only Vivienne Westwood however.

You know I compared the pictures of your purse to a guide and I think it's a fake, especially after looking at the inside plate.
Here is what an authentic purse's plate should look like

I used to work with fonts in my old job so I'm decent at spotting differences in fonts.
The letters in the two are similar but definitely not the same. Some of the most notable differences:
The letters are a bit thinner in yours
The loop on the top of the V does not connect in yours as it does on the real plate
The bottom of the lower case v extends out much further in yours and almost looks like a backwards y
The lines in the W's in yours connect higher up than on the real one
Your s is thinner and more simplified
The o's in yours have breaks at the top, while the real o's look more like they each have a slash going through the top

Also that guide I posted noted to look for "Made in Italy". Your purse just says "Italy", which they noted was the mark of a fake in most cases.

Hope that helps.
