Hi girls,

New to the forum. I recently found a Luella bag being sold online and I'm needing help authenticating it. Could someone help me authenticate it? Would be highly appreciated!

Thanks,

Gabi :)

I have 2 authentic luellas - the early versions, so I'm afraid I cannot comment on the newer ones. IMO you should search for an earlier version - they are better quality - sturdier. These are the ones that do not have pink cotton lining but are pure suede and the hearts tend to be flat rather than "stuffed".

If you find one with a suede interior - I would snap it up - they are much better before they were mass produced in Turkey.

Here is a picture of my two:

Hi ,recently purchased this bag about a month ago....,but after thinking bout it and scouring the luella threads im now unsure of its authenticity as im no LUELLA expert..could someone please tell me if this is fake or real,I have noticed mine doesnt have luella stamped on the front clip in the middle like some do but ive noticed some pictured in this thread that dont also so im unsure, also my tag is inside the bag lining at the bottom to the side and not the inside pocket,it has the flatter hearts and its tag is leather made in turkey but has no serial number on it and wondering if it should..also i purchased without the hearts on it as when i purchased it i didnt know about these on all the bags ect so not sure if it ever had any or if they were removed ....so any help would be most helpful :whiteflag: thankyou!

Hi, I'm hoping someone's still reading this link occasionally as I'd love some help with a couple of Luella bags. I have one that I bought from their London shop back in 2008, so I know how beautifully constructed the authentic ones are and I've always wanted more, but of course they went bust
What do you all think of these?

The Gisele was so copied when it was around that I'm a bit wary.

Any help much appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I'm resurrecting this thread because the last Luella question remained unanswered.

I am looking for some help identifying this Luella Purse that I got. I love older things! I was at a flea market last weekend and my eye was drawn to this purse. The look, feel, weight, and quality seemed to be there, and it was funky too! I want to give it to my eldest daughter, except that she only likes originals, and I can’t even tell her what it is. I’ve been searching the web, but can’t find anything exactly the same.

After reading on this forum, I thought I could at last identify if it was a real Luella, but I am still unsure. The heart and disc charms have Luella stamped on them, the Tag inside also is stamped Luella, and the Zipper draw is consistent with comments on this site. Even the Brass studs have two Luella’s stamped on them, facing opposite directions. The twist lock fastening has a good weight to it, with Luella imprinted on it. The bottom is leather, but with no feet. And I can’t find the made in tag. I very carefully went through the lining pulling it inside out, but no luck there.

It measures 4 1/4 inch by 10 5/8 inches on the leather base, it is 6 inches high, and the leather strap is 20 inches long.

It is an older purse that was stored for quite a while. It smells strongly of mothballs. As a result, I got it for a very good price.

Can anybody help?

My daughter was visiting from Toronto last night, so I showed her the purse. She loved it, so I asked her if she would like it. She thinks it is genuine. If it is, it is an old one. One thing I forgot to mention is that Luella is stamped on both sides of the zipper pull.

I'm glad I got it for her.
