thank you all very much for sharing your thoughts and addtl pics!! I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!:tender:

alison --
the screws on your bag actually look more like the screws on my Happy which are Phillips, not flatheads (flat head screws have one line across, whereas Phillips have 4 points, like a cross) &

^^check out the screw on the metal side piece of the Amalia, that was the one I was referring to. The one on the Happy is the phillips-style screw for sure, but on the wrinkled bag it is straight.

Oh, I see what you're talking about -- I thought the plate was your Amalia, but that's right -- the Amalia doesn't have a turnlock plate like the Happy

I see the screws on the Amalia you're referring to, but those look like smaller screws & different hardware and since your Happy has the same type of screws as my Happy, I'm wondering if all of the bags that have plates like that & screws that size should be Phillips -- I guess I'd have to see some other style to know for sure.

I still think there's enough irregularities tho that confirms it's not real -- those consistent wrinkles are quite telling, IMO. It's almost like they tried too hard to give the bag a wrinkled look

I'm not a Lanvin expert but did you notice that the bottom of the coin is different than the taupe one. There is a thick solid bar at the bottom of the taupe one and the other samples provided by other OPs. The grey one has a thin bar??? That would make me wonder..

You're absolutely right -- I compared the two coins and that line on the bottom is most definitely smaller/thinner than the one on my Happy bag. Overall, the lettering and engraving looks less raised on the grey bag. This may be a very telling sign and something to look for on other Lanvin bags!

Thanks for noticing this!

I am a lanvin newbie so I cannot decide on the authenticity of the bag alone but I just checked the history of your buyer, and that did ring an alarm to me. Most of the items she (presumably) sold were under $100, and there is no history of transactions on designer bags. That is pretty suspicious to me. Just thought you might want to know this. Sorry cannot help much.

she actually sold a Balenciaga bag a few weeks ago and a couple of YSL -- the pics of the Bbag weren't that close/clear, but from what I could tell it looked authentic (not sure about the YSL's tho)

Hi I need help to authenticate this bag. I am very new with LANVIN, so I can't really tell if the bag is real or not. Thank you.

I was watching this listing as well -- I think I'd ask for better and bigger pics before choosing to bid on this one. Based on what's there, it looks OK, but I'd want to see a close up of both sides of the Lanvin coin, as well as more detailed pics of the leather and the lining/inside. I don't like how some of the pics are larger and some are smaller -- it's almost like she copied some of those pics & didn't take them herself. Once I had those pics, I'd probably compare it to pics of other Amalia bags (if you do a Google search, you should come up with a lot)

if the seller can provide some kind of proof of authenticity, then you should be OK, but if it were me, I'd probably ask the seller when and where she originally bought this bag

Did you pay for the bag ? I don't think it is authentic... I thing that it is because of the charm...and the leather does seem to be a bit flat..

are you referring to the Grey bag I bought on the first page?
I've already returned the bag and am just waiting for my refund -- amazing how the seller was communicating regularly, right up UNTIL I sent the bag back. I asked her to please confirm that she recd it (I sent it overnight and recd delivery confirmation from the carrier), but she still hasn't replied -- up until then, she was answering every email and question. I'm guessing she's waiting the 3 days ebay allows sellers before issuing the refund -- if she doesn't issue it tomorrow, ebay will do it and she'll have even bigger issues

I was honestly considering a Neutral FB rating & 4 star ratings since her communication was excellent and her shipping was fast, but since she's now chosen to all but ignore me and still hasn't issued a refund (despite receiving the bag Wed morning), I'm think I'm gonna have to give her a Negative
I don't like to leave Neg FB, but I feel like this seller has given me no choice

On a similar note, can anyone tell me what to look for when authenticating a Carlos Falchi? I know that his HSN stuff says "Chi" in it - not the stuff I'm going for. But his department store grade bags - do they all have his tagline, or just some?

Hi,
I haven't purchase the bag. I am doubting about the price which is very low for the grey bag(amalia chain bag) but I really want to purchase the amalia cabas tote shopping bag. I did ask the seller if she has any card that originally come with the bag or prove of authenticate but she said no. Do you guys think that this bag is worth buying ??

the bag in question was brown, right? authenticity cards don't prove authenticity one way or the other -- just like a low starting bid is not indicative of a bag's authenticity (I start all my auctions at 99 cents with no reserve). Proof of authenticity would be a copy of the receipt, tags, etc -- did you ask her when and where she originally purchased the bag? that might help. did you also ask for the addtl pics?

without more info I can't tell you whether or not it's worth buying -- if you're really interested, I'd ask for more pics and when/where she bought the bag
