Authentification question: juicy couture magic bunny charm. I just bought one from ebay (actually a second one, the first never arrived from another seller *grumble*). I'm wondering about the authenticity because a) it has eyelashes and whiskers painted on - in some photos of the charm you can see eyelashes (they're very faint) but in others I can't - should an authentic charm have very light eyelashes and whiskers? From looking at photos the box seems authentic - but I know some people sell fake charms with real boxes. The only mark on the actual charm to mark it as juicy is on the clasp - the little crown logo. Should there be any other markings?

Yes, the charm has faint eyelashes and whiskers, they can barely be seen on mine. I didn't notice a second stamp/mark, just the one on the clasp.

Caveat Emptor. I received a charm yesterday from an eBay seller yesterday that was not the one pictured on the auction. There were several things that caught my eye when I received it but it was the wrong limited edition tag on the charm, which should have been 2009 but was replaced with a 2010 that was the smoking gun. I'm just adding this to further substantiate KatieRose's statement that some Sellers sell both real and fake. The following link is to the item listed but not what I received.

If only I had started collecting earlier I wouldn't need to rely on eBay and some of its questionable sellers. I'm just glad I found this site and I can authenticate and communicate with others. Have a Good Day Everyone!

They like to post photos of authentic charms, usually stolen photos, then they send fake charms. How can the average buyer protect themselves against that? That's why it's so important to really read the seller's feedback and try and get a recommendation about the seller from other charm buyers. But if the seller is selling both real and fake...:shrugs:

I am really bewildered by the number of ebay sellers with fake charms. I mean how many of us have access to people who wholesale fake stuff from China? Not many, I would think?
I'm guessing that at least some of the sellers are buying fake charms from online sources, thinking they are real, and then they turn around and sell them on ebay.
I don't know, but I'm completely turned off from buying charms on ebay, and now only buy from sellers I know to be honest. I've passed on a lot of apparently nice charms because of this, but it's not worth the problems if something is wrong with the charm.
