Hello ladies!

I have been reading with pleasure your H stories, and now could use some help with an item I just purchased off of edevil.

Item: HERMES carré en soie 90x90 Voyage en étoffes
Listing number:
Seller: lmw041
Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301429423047?_trksid=p2060778.m2748.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

I checked on piwigo and the scarf pictured there has a much colder cast to it. Is it correct that the brun foncé stripe is not right at the hem, but slighly displaced towards the center of the carré?

Merci :doggie:
Sorry, we dont authenticate closed auctions. But, I am still in a very jolly holiday spirit let me say a few things

Scarves are super hard to photograph in general, Some cameras make scarves appear blue for example, others make them look orange .. Scarves rarely have the same cast to in pictures

The piwigo photo is not so great, too small - it has a gray cast to it, Dont have time to check now, but I dont remember if that is correct or not..

So, let me put in an advertisement for Piwigo - send the webmaster your photos to improve the Site !!

Had, I seen the auction, I would have said that the photos in the auction are not adequate for authentication - blurry and no photos of hem and other points of interest

And yes this one has been faked.

Thanks for the links. I definitely think it's in the ascot/cravat family. It's approx. 33" long and 4" at the widest parts at the ends, so a bit to cumbersome for something tied like a bow tie. But it does fit in the box perfectly, if one folds about 1/4 of its length over on it's self, on the narrow end (the part that goes around the neck), leaving the wider ends uncreased.

I also continue to think that it's some sort of custom job. My research shows that the pattern is from c. 2006. I don't think Hermes makes ascots anymore, and probably didn't even 8 years ago. So maybe it was for some sort of uniform.

Anyway, thanks for your thoughts on this!

A couple of good examples - a classic 1980s ascot - the sewn gathers are seen in photo 2

The ascot is longer than a bow tie. A bow tie - this one just happens to have the big butterfly shape

Other bowtie shapes

Your photos have no dimensions - I was thinking the box was the size of a man's tie ie long, but maybe it is just gavroche length, which would make it a bow tie - like item

SDSC or marietouchet, if you are available, could you take a quick peek (like 2 seconds is all you need)? I see some things that are causing concern...

item: Authentic Hermes Twilly Purple Logo Print
number:161524027843
seller: sapppk
link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Authentic-H...27843?pt=US_Scarves_Wraps&hash=item259b9511c3
Comments: There is also another twilly up by this seller, which I also have the questions about, but didn't want to post 2 at a time.

marietouchet- I did get in touch with piwigo and have submitted some pics to them as you suggested.

Just a gentle reminder that unless you are actually interested in purchasing, please don't ask for authentication. We have a lot of authenticators who burn out doing this because of the volume of requests, and it's appreciated if those requests are only for actual potential purchases.

Thanks for your understanding.

thank you for the reminder.

Hey all, give a big welcome back to SDSC, taking time out from drinking maitais on the beach at sunset LOL Glad to see you !
Nice to see you, SDSC, and I'm glad you haven't washed away in all the rain! Up here on the central coast it's been raining hippopotami (hippopotamuses???) for days & days. Not really maitai weather... more like hot buttered rum in front of a cozy fire, wrapped in a CSGM.;)

The Moghols is authentic. Yes, try to remove the stain near the logo bottom center

But, if you intend wearing in a bias fold, the good news is that spots at 3 o clock, 6 o clock, and 9 o clock disappear in the folds

You weren't quoting my query, marietouchet, but I think you were responding to it nonetheless. I'm pretty sure I'll be able to fade that stain at the very least, and definitely conceal it.

Thanks for the response!

Marie,
thank you for your advice. I'll examine the scarf cautiously once it reaches my silk loving home.
Apologies for asking - I did not know it is not encouraged to post questions concerning closed bids.

Dear Ladies,

I would appreciate your help about these two scarves! I am looking for Art des steppes in this color combination.
I tend to think the first one is original, despite the bad condition... but I am not sure about the second seller.

Thank You so much for your help! You do a great job on this thread, extremely useful.

Hello Ladies. I know there aren't many pictures of this scarf...and they are almost all the same shot. But, I'm hoping you might be able to tell something. Thank you!!!

Happy Holidays!

Sorry, the photos are not adequate - no hems, logos etc With this level of photos all I could od is guess as to whether the color seems right

See one of my previous posts - photographers often do not get the cw exactly right so authenticating on color alone is foolhardy
