Hello Ladies,
I have been advised to post in this thread, the listing has already ended though.

Item: COLLECTORS! Original 1968 Issue HERMES CARRE SCARF - Les Amazones by P Dumas
eBay number : 321265046836
Seller: style-eclectic
Link: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321265046836?
Comments:
1. The edges are rolled towards the front BUT the stitching shows. Like a candy cane, haha hope you get what I mean.
2. Have you ever had the care tag being attached in the same "flow", using the same thread that's used for the rolling? This kind of means I could never detach the care label without breaking the thread that holds the edge together.
3. There is this lumpy bit of fibre towards the centre of the scarf. I can't tell if it's a particularly well executed repair or a fault. If it were a fault, surely it would have never passed the QC at Hermes?

What do you guys think? Am I just overly harsh on the ladies craftsmanship?
Here are my additional pics:

This is perfectly authentic from an excellent seller who is beyond any doubt.

If you believe that things, which are hitting the H boutiques and are being sold, are always immaculate, then you are unfortunately wrong. In earlier years quality control (as it is today) did not even exist. Today it does, but there is so much pressure to get things out that mistakes can happen. We are talking about hand-made items being controlled by human beings. And human beings make mistakes.

While I know that some people will put their scarves under the microscope and happily bash H for any irregularity they can find (or harrass sellers for rebates), I know many others who will collect and love them just (but not only) for this. If you want uniform scarves, then don't buy Hermès.

If it comes to vintage pieces like this one, you can be happy to find them. This piece in immaculate condition commands much more than the 275 USD you paid.

Furthermore, it would have been nice to post BEFORE you purchase. The seller has taken a lot of time to meticulously describe and picture the scarf. She even pointed out the issues with the hem and has shown a pic of the pulled thread. I know a few sellers only who have such high standards.

Hello Dame de Coeur,

Thanks for replying to me. I very appreciate it!

I did not think that my post was rude but feel you have taken offence to it. Please let me make clear that by posting I was not meant to offend or bash the seller, the brand or anyone at all. I should have mentioned that I purchased the scarf because I did not question its authenticity. I therefore did not actually plan to post in this thread at all.

Firstly I thought myself that a hand made item+age+dry cleaning will result in different outcomes. But since this is the oldest Hermes scarf that I own I had no comparisons. Secondly, that imperfection I mentioned was towards the centre of the scarf, not those pulls the seller mentioned. And, as you said, I am aware that even freshly brought scarves have little pulls here and there especially at the hem but I haven't come across a tiny "lump" within the scarf (it made me think of silk dupioni).

Anyway, I posted this scarf here more out of curiosity than anything else. My main aim was to exchange opinions/experiences with the members here and seek some expert knowledge and learn. Maybe this was the wrong thread to post but I was advice to do so.

Again though, thanks for replying to me!

I think this is authentic. Pics are poor and I would appreciate if sdsurfchick could confirm.

Thank You so much!
I love this scarf, it is so wintery.
There are a few on ebay right now (that I am also eyeing) and they all look a bit different,so it really is impossible to me to authenticate myself.Do You know,if it is faked often?
I will wait what sdsurchick says:)

Dear authenticators, would you kindly share your opinion on this scarf? Thank you in advance!

Reve de Corail has been faked a lot.
I can't say anything for sure with these pictures, but have huge doubts about authenticity.

Thank you so much Dame, after posting this another one came up, slightly different seller's name, same country, and it made even me suspicious, both the pictures and the seller. So, I'll forego these, getting ANYTHING H is difficult today, searching London shops but no loot
-:)
