I need some help here - After I bought the Fendi Spy I came here and did some research and decided it was a fake bag. I keep coming back here to learn what to look for etc. After I viewed this listing and responses I was confused and posted my bag because I determined that it was fake because the halogram tag has two lines of letters/numbers and from what I could tell it is not supposed to and the leather is wrong(too smooth).

Now this particular bag has the same halogram tag and Accio Sacculus and baglady.1 have the opinion it is an authentic bag.

Post# 678 by gwentan - this spy bag is black but has the same style halogram tag and an unreadable leather strip, as my bag. The poster asked the seller for more photos and she posted them in two seperate posts:

Post #689 - this is the new halogram lable photo. It's not the same tag as the one in the auction - it appears to be from an authentic bag because all letters/numbers are on one line - the numbers do not match either - you can read the numbers on both.

Post #717 - this is the photo of the leather strip -- it is brown the bag in the auction is black - wouldn't they match in a Fendi?? the numbers/letters are totally unreadable in the auction photos so can't tell if they are the same.

I am not trying to cause trouble or point fingers etc. I am just trying to learn so that I don't lose any more money. My first Fendi mistake cost me $40.00 and that is nothing like the $800.00 the person who won the auction lost if the bag is infact fake. If it is authentic - what makes mine fake besides the leather? Thank You - I really hope I haven't offended anybody.
Whether the code on the hologram tag has one or two lines, does not affect authenticity per se. There are authentic bags with 2 line codes w/holograms, primarily on pre 2006 bags.

Accio & I look at many many many (did I say many?) elements of the bag, but much is told to us by the hologram tag & leather serial # strip.

I have been authenticating FENDIs here for several years, and there are too many many many (did I say many?) elements we examine to put in a simple guide. Plus, we need to protect TPF members by not giving out publicly all this info, since the first thing that happens when we do this, the makers of fake bag correct their errors & make it even more difficult for us to determine authenticity.

Bottom line, we recommend you submit photos to us to authenticate a particular bag, rather than attempt to create rules of authentification on your own, which may be erroneous. I hope you understand and appreciate the efforts we take to help our fellow members and protect them from purchasing fake Fendis. :smile1:
