I believe we already gave an opinion on this one - it is indeed authentic...I authenticated it, but baglady.1 checks my authentications to confirm.

So - does that mean then that the number/letter style on the halogram tag is not a good indicator of authenticity - meaning they can be all on one line or they could be seperated into two lines?

If that is the case - then what are the tell tale signs of fake on my bag? What should I look for on the leather strip? Thank You for your time and patience.

This is authentic...no question about it. The older spy bags have the letter on the top line and the number on the bottom..such as the 2005 spy bags. Also, the leather was A LOT smoother than the more recent models. I have felt the 2005 spy bags leather...and it is SO much smoother and has a different texture to it than the current models. I am not considered an expert..but I will chime in when I have NO doubt regarding an items authenticity and I don't want you to regret this lovely purchase! Congrats...it is in fact authentic...the ladies are correct!
My apologies to baglady.1 -- it looks like the leather strip from post #717 was for a different bag all together -- the second bag(link) from the original post #678

maybe gwentan mixed up the photos / auctions in post #689 - and that pic goes to the brown spy in the second auction(link) of the original post.

So - Now my question is -- is this an authentic Fendi Spy bag??

sorry if this is really confusing.

Have you seen Ebay's Guides 1-3 of how to authenticate a Fendi? It is very helpful. This forum also has one, I believe, but I can't find that one. Here is the link to Ebay's Guide 1..and at the bottom they have Guides 2 & 3. Guide 1 states that older spy bags will have the A on the top line. I hope this helps!http://reviews.ebay.com/Authentic-Fendi-is-Available-on-Ebay-Guide-I_W0QQugidZ10000000002330356

Thank you JessieRose -- I read through those guides and not one of them says anything about what the numbers/letters on the leather strip mean other than they include the style number. Do the numbers/letters and their sequence tell you anything? If so - what?
Thank You.

On the leather serial strip, I believe the middle numbers are the style number, then the color and the last three digits are what season it was produced. SOOOO..yours is 058, which means Fall/Winter of 2005. Baglady or Accio...that is how it goes, correct..the model, color and then the year? I am not positive what the numbers on the hologram represent..we need to ask the experts..I never did research that. Also, can you find the reference the the Purse Forum that explains this for her? I can't find it! Thanks!! You ladies are appreciated.

Need to see a clear close up pic of the serial number to confirm

While the numbers on the serial strip are important, there other factors we look for on the serial strip than just the right numbers. Many fakes have the right serial numbers. As for the holograms, older bags have the two line numbers and the newer bags have just one line. The numbers on the holos have no rhyme or reason. Again, we are not looking at the holograms for the numbers/letters on them so much as other factors. We just can't list them all here, lest we help the fakers make better fakes. :shrugs:
