the first one, i'm not sure if dior uses their old dust-bags for the gaucho, but as far as i know from my gaucho, it came in the newer dust-bags that only has the name "dior" (in grey) on it, rather than the "christian dior, paris" (in black) on it. so it's probably fake. plus the metal hardware has an odd golden hue to it. :shrugs:

the other two, i'm not so sure. the second one seems to be pointing towards the fake direction. the third, i'm clueless because there's only 2 pictures to go by.

i guess mayday or someone else could help to determine them

okay so why does it seem like EVERYONE is looking for a gaucho..when no one bid on my authentic one when it was on ebay...what did i do wrong???

im confused.

I think it's the starting bid price. I saw a few fake black Gauchos ending around $590US which started with low starting bids. I think that if you start the Gaucho at a low starting bid (maybe $100) you may get more than $599 for it in the end (at least that has been my experience). Of course, there is a small possibility that the item won't sell for nearly as much as you hoped for, but you can always cancel the auction before the end (even though Ebay is against that...they say they are against a lot of things, like fakes, but they don't do anything to reinforce them).

Another suggestion is to sell the Gaucho with a buy-it-now or best offer method. Set your buy-it-now price around $700 or more (so it's still reasonable) and you may get a few offers which are reasonable (you can accept or decline the offers).

I hope this helps!

I agree with Zerodross...all 3 Gauchos are fake.

G'day, i am a new user here and am really interested in getting a gaucho bag, i live in the stix of australia and elux doesn't deliver in oz and there isnt a dior in the state. I am really considering buying 1 from ebay... can you authenticate this one? eBay Australia: Christian Dior Double Gaucho Bag Medium (item 120052186763, end time 19-Nov-06 17:04:04 AEDST) i would really appreciate it as i have only been looking for the past few weeks. thanks heaps

oooh, if you're interested in the white gaucho, perhaps you could give lv1011 a private message? she was selling her authentic white gaucho on ebay for $599 (which is a real steal!) and nobody bidded on it (which is a crying shame).

that said, the auction for that gaucho is going for an obscenely low price. like i said before for another auction that someone asked about, the dust bag looks different (it's perhaps the older dior dustbags with "christian dior, paris" on it) than the one my gaucho came in (which had just the name "dior" on it).

i know mayday has mentioned that prices for any item can sometimes not be indicative of its authenticity, but i reckon for the gauchos, the fake ones tend to go for a really incredibly low price. then again, i guess we just need to bear in mind that it's not all conclusive based on pricing alone, since lv1011's real gaucho went for a fantastic price.

You can always set the starting bid price low but set a reserve. That way, if the highest bid turns out to be less than $600, you are not obligated to sell the bag. Another suggestion is to offer a return policy (3-days?) I know when I look at high-end items, I'm skeptical of the authenticity of that item if the seller does not offer a return policy. You can always say "A refund of the original purchase amount (minus shipping) is granted only for authenticity issues otherwise ALL SALES ARE FINAL"

Hi Bevb!

This bag is authentic! The second one you posted is a bit suspicious because of the funny-looking logo jacquard (it doesn't look very accurate from that angle). A few more pictures (especially of the Dior logo inside the bag) would help!

Thank you MayDay! I will try to get more pictures of the interior of the black purse (this is the one you had questions about, correct?) I really appreciate it...

I found this site by accident AFTER I purchased these 2 bags- I really love the vintage stuff, but know nothing about them.
