some! After looking at them much further, I'm going to follow your advice and not bid on the first one. Here's the creed of the second one. Thanks again!

The texture is definitely odd, but the creed is genuine. Unless the textured part actually feels damaged, the back makes me think that the pebbled texture was part of a fairly smooth textured piece, apparently the factory decided to use it anyway and thought that a differently-textured flap would make the bag more interesting. The heaviest texture is deliberately positioned so that it's right on the front. Strange, but authentic.

Oh I love this! It looks like pebbled flap Willis! I have never seen one like it! Very unique!!
I've seen several vintage bags that had a pebbled texture. They all looked nearly new. Someone said that the leather smoothed out with use. I don't know if that is true.

Ughh!! Just posting a warning to beware!

I've been looking for a leather backpack, style 9405 and over 75% of those I've seen (current and completed) are fake! But the bags are (mostly) the correct style so unless one knows what to look for, they can be easily fooled.

(I'm also very busy reporting the fakes!)
After reporting at least a dozen fake (current and completed) backpacks, I found another that I question.

I don't think the font is correct for the H plant, the serial number is too squished together and I don't think the H plant was still in operation in 2001. I can't even find another 2001 H creed.

I'm pretty sure I'm correct but want confirmation, please.

The last H plant code that I'm sure is genuine was from early 1998.

The 9405 you're asking about has a problem with the leather zipper pull, and that crooked underscore under the "o" in "No" that's ONLY found in fakes.

Thanks. Seriously, there are more fakes than genuine of that style! I saved pictures for my files of the various prefixes.

Hi,
I hope I am in the correct spot. I would like to know if this is authentic and if so, any information about the name or age. Thank you for any help you can give me and I appreciate your time. It measures about 9 inches high and 7 inches across.
Coach - creed says Made in Italy

Welcome to tPF!
If the bag is listed for sale on any online site, we need the URL, see post One of this thread for the correct format. If you own it and have had it for more than 6 months, please mention that in the post next time you need an authentication

The bag is a genuine Murphy Bag made in 1993. Coach's style number was 9930.

Hello! I saw this on a shopping site and I'm hoping somebody can help me authenticate this. I have a weird feeling about the serial no. Also, do you think the pen mark can still come off? I'll be making it my rehab project if it's worth it.

Item: Coach Sling Bag
Link: https://ph.carousell.com/p/authentic-vintage-coach-sling-bag-112836089/?ref=search&ref_query=coach&ref_condition=used&ref_referrer=/search/products/?query=coach&condition=used

Thank you!

There's no problem with the serial number, it's correct for that month, year and plant.

The pen mark is a problem, those are VERY hard, sometimes impossible, to remove, especially from light colored leather. Search the Rehab and Rescue thread at the Coach Clubhouse subforum of the main Coach forum for posts about removing pen marks, there are probably hundreds of them. Use "pen mark" as the search term.

Just a caveat: Be very careful buying from sellers in the Philippines. Make sure the bag you see in that listing is the actual bag you receive.

And for newer (post 2000) bags, be sure to have any items authenticated before buying. The fakes we've seen coming from the Philippines are extremely close.
