If it measures about 12x8 inches it's a genuine Hudson Bag, style 4113, from the Lightweight line and made around 1991-93. It helps to give measurements when the bag has a vintage all-numeric serial number.

Hello, I've been following the questions on the 1941 bags with interest and now I have one that I'm hoping can be solved.
I bought this regular chalk Dinky at Nordstrom Rack a couple months ago. The tag was missing the style and price sticker and a price was just hand written on it, so when they rang it up they just put the written price plus the CTR discount into the register.
Anyway, I decided to google the style number (38185) that is on the inside tag but the results came up as the burnished dinky. On Coach's website this chalk Dinky is still there but the style number is 55149 and the hardware is black copper while mine is gunmetal. I compared it to my other two Dinkys and the feel and quality seem the same. Let me know if you need more pictures. Your pictures are VERY helpful.

I see no reason to believe your bag isn't authentic based on the pictures and where you bought it. (I don't believe that the Rack was victimized by a switcher in your case.)

I don't know where they came up with the 23698 style number as that's a style number of a backpack.

Your pictures give us information which until now, we didn't have. It's good to know that the 1941 collection bags have the cloth tag with production information and that's helpful in determining the "real" style number of these bags with (@Hyacinth 's term) bullshyte serial numbers on the creeds.

I hope you don't mind my saving your pictures for my records.

Just a comment on style numbers: All styles aren't on Coach's site and in this case, and when sold out, they usually remove it.

And this explains why you can't find it on the coach site: SOLD OUT:

Oh my. Excuse my blunder. Could someone help with authenticity on this listing from Poshmark. I usually stick to Rebecca Minkoff but would like to buy a vintage Coach. This is all the information I have on this bag.

Thank you!!

This has been talked about before, on January 8 and March 11 of this year, search tPF forums for "20315"... "20315" is one of those fake style numbers Coach pulled out of their arses a while back to use inside different Rogue styles. The number stamped on those creed patches doesn't mean diddly-squat and can't be used for authentication. There are no valid plant or production codes in that so-called serial number...

I'll be blunt. Coach is really pi$$ing me off! First they remove serial numbers from creeds and hide them on a cloth label hidden away in any one of a multitude of possible places in the bag, most often in the zipper pocket. Then they come up with the 1941 collection bags with style numbers that seem to be only on the price tag and a totally unrelated "style" number on the creed. Then they bring back some bags with date/plant code prefixes and style number suffixes. But wait! There's more! On some of the 1941 collection bags, they use different texts and formats than on others. On some 1941 collection bags, they have a possible (probable?) misspelled word. And where in the past, the more "Coach" was splattered on all the hardware was indicative of a fake, now it appears they're doing it to genuine items.....

I remember there was some discussion of the games that coach seems to be playing with serial numbers but I forgot the specifics; thank you for the reference. And Coach is really pi$$sing me off, too!

It's a Beekman Brief, if you need the name.

Thanks Hyacinth! Always love the style, vintage, names, any info! And I have seen the Beekman name before but I never wrote it down and I always default to Bleekman! Noted. The insertion of Dominican Republic totally throws off the creed spacing, doesn't it??
The little orange girl was a total impulse auction-almost-ended buy. I lean toward medium to large bags. Pray God that is the last time I do that! I am a sucker for British tan / neutrals, burnt orange and soft/butternut yellows.

The bag looks genuine but we usually don't recommend buying from PM because they don't make any effort to remove reported fakes from their site.
