Didn’t think these small leather goods had creed patchs.
Is there an “R” plant?

I've seen a few scattered R codes from the mid-90s that don't seem to have any other problems, and they have the same serial font as this one. R may be a temporary plant or a "floater" that was used for various US plants before the code was assigned to Thailand a few years later. Even though this one has the wrong creed wording for a Sonoma, it still may be genuine. The Sonoma items were at the end of their run so maybe the last few were just stamped with whatever Coach had available at the time especially if it was made at a temporary plant. The Fall 1997 catalog DOES show that exact style 4981 Sonoma Mini Cosmetic Case as "New" and it doesn't seem like the kind of thing the fakes makers would bother with.

I probably wouldn't take a chance on buying it, but it should not be reported either. 4981_Sonoma Mini Cosmetic Pouch_early Fall1997-a.jpg

Wow, such interesting history, thanks so much Hyacinth!
(I have a 4970 Skinny Case from I think 1995 that is very close in size but has no creed, so was curious about this one.)
But will definitely pass on it.

Thanks alot.

The second one looks like a genuine Pocket Purse 9755 from the mid 1980s.

The first one also seems genuine but since I can't identify the style because of poor quality creed photos and lack of any measurements, I'm just going to say "probably genuine". I'd like to at least be able to read the "Made In ... " line but can't even do that. There shouldn't be any reason why a seller can't take measurements, "medium" as a size doesn't tell me anything. Who doesn't even have a ruler or tape measure in their home?

IMG_3181.JPG IMG_3180.JPG IMG_3185.JPG Looks okay to me, but I wouldn't mind another set of eyes on my latest Goodwill buy, a Companion Zip. Measures about 11x7x4 inches, strap is 36 inches.

This is the only bag I have with "Made in the U.S.A." vs "Made in the United States." Anyone have info on the difference? Thanks guys!

Ooh, you got anchors! It's authentic. I don't know the difference between Made in U.S.A (note there is no "the") and Made in the United States. I suspect they are from different plants.

First - having "the right numbers" doesn't prove ANYTHING. Why wouldn't most fakes makers have enough common sense to copy a "correct" serial number? A serial number or part of a number or what the seller claims the serial or style number is can never prove that any Coach is genuine, although it can sometimes prove it's fake. That's why we always need photos.

If you are able to Copy & Paste the actual links to the listings in your posts, we'd appreciate it, see Post #1 of this thread.

Style number 9755 indicates a Pocket Purse, not any of the other style names the first seller has listed. The first one is genuine, made in 1996. The second seller didn't manage to get the name right at all but at least got the right style number, this one was probably made in the middle 1980s and is also genuine.
