So when I posted the pic of the"Sonoma" bag I had last week, whateve told me that it was questionable, because of some errors in design.this got me curious. From what I've learned, Sonoma bags always have striped lining, right?(wish i had known before!)This one has black. And I know from one of hyacinth's guides that sonomas had some of the sloppiest Creed's..my question is,did sonomas ever have any slight misspells, like one missing letter?this one left out the "c" in distinctive.this is just wishful thinking, but is it possible they just put in the wrong lining and had a typo?..the plant code and style number match, and stitching is near perfect.either this is authentic with errors (<--not likely)or the most deceiving fake I've ever seen..please let me know what you think.thank you!IMG_20170208_092841.jpg

The creed wordings on the Sonomas were changed several times, and it wouldn't surprise me if one of the changes was because of this kind of spelling mistake. Even parts of the serial number fonts were changed, yours is still using a temporary old-style font that we've seen on a handful of genuine Coaches already. I've never actually compared them all together but there are probably at least 6 different Sonoma creed formats including changes to improve word spacing and eliminate hyphenated words broken up between 2 lines of text.

The D5E-code in yours means that it's one of the earliest Sonomas, and the Nubuc Sonomas weren't even officially advertised until the Early Fall 1995 catalog so yours is a VERY early example. It's very possible that Coach didn't have enough of the striped lining fabric and the plant had to made do with a solid black. When there was a parts shortage, the non-US plants were usually the last ones on the list. The US plants seem to have always been given priority.

I'd like to see a pic of the inside pocket zipper pull, but from what I've seen of other Sonomas - and the more I see the more differences I find - it seems ok to me.

Thankyou so much! That makes me feel better.lol here's the pic of the zipper pull you requested.View attachment 3606445

DAMN. Now that worries me. The zipper pull is wrong, it should be a single piece of metal and egg-shaped, and the ends of the leather trim around the inside pocket should be squared off and not round. See the pic below.

It may be fake, sorry. The difference in the shape of the pocket trim is a big problem. More opinions are welcome.

Did you buy it on Ebay or another online site, and do you still have the auction link or item number?

DATE CORRECTION
THE SONOMA INTRODUCTION DATES SHOULD BE 1994, SORRY! Coach may have even made a few in late 1993 because we've seen some with all-number serial numbers, but they didn't appear in the Spring 1994 catalogs yet.

I'm not going to attempt to authenticate because it's not my area of expertise but I'd li
And that one has "distinctive" spelled correctly.
