Really? It doesn't seem like leather. It feels like plastic, and the inside suede seems more like fuzzy fabric. There's a seam on the piping of the strap in between the buckle holes that is very thin and and stretchy like plastic. I'm pretty sure it's plastic.

I'm not an expert authenticator like Whateve, but am a pretty well versed Coach shopper, and have to chime in -- I agree with her assessment, also I see that your creed shows a Coach outlet 'target' stamp, which along with everything else is additional reassurance. As a fan of that particular style & color, in my opinion you got quite a nice deal on that bag :-)

With that said - I personally have had at least two authentic Coach bags that had such smooth, finely grained leather & soft fuzzy insides that I also wasn't sure about it being leather. I had both authenticated here -- and also had my leather repair person check the leather for me. They checked using heat applied to a teeny tiny piece removed from the excess leather overage an inconspicuous inside seam, as vinyl will melt if heated. My bags checked out fine - they just had very finely grained, soft well kept leather!

Hope this helps!

I have a hippie swingback flap, I think that's what it's called that was made in Mexico. My first reaction to the feel of the leather was that it was fake because it felt kind of spongy. But it is leather. Just different from other bags.

Thanks BB, I did refer her.. along with assuring her that I always authenticate etc. in hopes that she would be reasonable.
Her reply in quotes below for your reading pleasure.

"Hi ... I have no authority to state that the purse is inauthentic - none at all... I'm so sorry that that was what my message conveyed. I actually didn't know where to click to express what I didn't like about the purse from the list I was presented. I am quite certain that every coach you list is authentic, and I would buy from you again. I looked at your other listings but didn't find one that was quite right.
For some reason I can't print the label you sent me, I called pay pal and the agent said I had to purchase the label. I don't understand what she meant since you had provided one already. Do you know what I should do? Again, I'm sorry for incorrectly expressing myself.
L****e"

I am guessing that trying to get her to change her return reason to 'not as expected' or 'changed mind' might be pushing it.

I also have no idea what she is referring to about me having sent her a label - that she can't print - but am guessing this is part of eBays "new improved" return process
:: smile ::

But -- I am happy that at least she is being nice!

So I am going to mail her a labeled bag to ship the bag back, chalk the additional time & expense up to "marketing" and start my holiday drinking early... (& oh boy do I look forward to hours on phone with eBay trying to get this "defect" removed)

Cue EGGNOG :-P
You have a great attitude but I am the bearer of poor tidings, please don't shoot the messenger!

You now have a permanent DEFECT with ebay, to get added to whatever others you might have and there is absolutely nothing that will remove it, believe me.
EG - I showed them the message from a buyer who initiated a return , the message saids she made an error when she called the bag fake and was absolutely certain it was real and she was very sorry. SHE EVEN CALLED EBAY FOR ME!
Does not matter!
Ebay says " the defect was correctly issued because the buyer DID have a concern or issue at some point in the transaction", therefore it is not removable.

We are all having many problems with the ebay returns whether managed or not.
The choices they give for people who want to return are strange and irrelevant mostly.
I mean who is going to choose "I found it for a cheaper price"....lol?

THey should have a reason that states "I overbid and now I am feeling it"
that is the real reason for the last TWO returns I received.

If you have any success getting it removed I would love to hear about it cuz we need all the help we can get.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND ATTITUDE!

Thanks again for so much info. I had imagined that what you meant was that stampings are a negative sign. I just wanted to responded with that info. In my opinion it is a very good fake, and it is interesting in a way for this reason. I'm out 12 dollars, at least, but c'est la vie. If it were a fake, though still leather and nice enough, I would keep it and use it. Everything is done so that it appears, without actually touching it, to be perfectly genuine. There is some wear to the bottom, so it has probably been used for at least a year. Leather does not stretch and look like plastic in this way. It hasn't been treated with anything, it just feels like smooth clean vinyl. I don't mean to be argumentative at all. It seems to me that maybe this is something that could be on the radar. Now, I'm going to spend 30 minutes looking into the organizations that are being funded by the sale of bags like these and consider my Coach education furthered. May I say again that what you are doing with this forum is a great service to the vintage purse buying internet community (and also in a way to the world at large). Many thanks :)
Please don't take this wrong because I'm not intending it as an insult but honestly, posts like yours are a seller's nightmare.

Not only are you accusing a seller of a crime she didn't commit, you are disputing and arguing with experienced longtime authenticators who know what they're talking about.

Although outlet bullets have been faked, this is absolutely not one of the bags with a fake bullet stamp. I can tell you (as you've already been told) that the Mexican font and creed have a distinctive look and that bag was made in Mexico by Coach.

I would think that as a buyer, you would have been ecstatic to learn that you were wrong about the bag being fake. Instead, you're seemingly determined to be disappointed.

If you don't like the quality or the leather, that's your choice but the bag is authentic and you owe the seller an apology.

Again i am sorry for the rant but sellers are on edge enough with eBay's anti-seller bias so to see an honest seller put on the defensive just adds insult to injury.

I realize now, BeenBurned, that ebay's policies are a point of contention...but that has nothing to do with me. I have said only that I do not believe the bag to be made of leather. Whateve or Hyacinth, would either of you allow me to send the bag to you for your evaluation (with no desire on my part for its return)? Honestly, I see this as an interesting fake insofar as it is so visually perfect. I'm totally convinced that it is not leather, and some validation would be great. I could go to a cobbler, but then none of you would believe me. I had wished to ask now and then about bags on ebay, but I get the impression that I am not welcome on the forum. All the same, again, thank you for the great resource and the interesting responses.

How much experience do you have with Coach?

How much experience do you have with leather? Understand that leather is an organic product and hides can vary depending on what the cows ate, the part of the cow it came from, how it was handled and treated by the tanners, the types and colors of dye used, etc. There are so many variables and in fact, if you read the creeds and care cards, the variations in the grain are specifically mentioned. Although your complaint isn't "grain-related," it's the nature of leather.

Don't think you're unwelcome here. It certainly isn't so. We're just trying to point out to you that in years of studying the brand, styles, and minute details of the construction and markings of coach bags, we are trying to point out that you are mistaken.

Please tell me what you think of the three bags in this auction on ebay....
before I pay!
THank you.

These were already authenticated on Nov. 9 here: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-855067-599.html#post27638321 You have the seller's name wrong, which might be why you didn't find it in a search.
