A bit of help, please! I've read the stickies and am just wanting to make sure I understand correctly. I bought a bag on the bay - I just fell in love with it and am so ready for it to arrive. Naturally, I'm hoping I did not buy a fake because I just love the design of this bag!

This is the information the seller included and the auction link is here. I hope I linked it correctly.

Overall good condition, Fading on pipes/trim, Darkness on handles
Coach E3P-7586, Coach hanging tag….Coach embossed on exterior side
Made in Costa Rica
Style: Satchel, Hobo, Tote Bag
Material: Leather (extra thick), Nickel-tone Hardware
Color: British Tan
Size: Medium
Approximate Measurements
Double Handles: (from the high point to the center of bag opening): 6”
Height (from the opening of the bag to the bottom): 8”
Width (from the side to side at the widest point): 11”
Depth (across the bottom from the center front to the center back): 4”

So if I am understanding things, this bag was made in March. But would it be 2003 or a 1993? Is the P a factory indicator or something else? I've been googling but I am not finding a name for this bag.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

The format and information we need for authentication are explained in post number 1 of this thread. Posting the seller's ID and the listing number can be a big help if a link doesn't work, and can also help someone searching for information on the same listing or seller.

This link works:

The bag is one of the Hamptons Leather Carryalls, made in 2003 A bag from 1993 would have had a completely different kind of serial number with no searchable codes or item numbers. Information on how to read a Coach serial number for bags made from 1994 to the present is in the set of six Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay, specifically the ones on Creeds and on Serial Numbers. But I recommend reading and Saving all of them:

http://search.reviews.ebay.com/members/salearea?uqt=g

The P code in this case indicates the Costa Rica factory. The bag is genuine.

Very fake - not just the tell-tale 2-tone rectangular box, but the hangtag has a fake font, the Cs in the Heart charm are badly mis-shaped, and I think the colors are all wrong.

Give me a while to find a photo of the real one, but feel free to report it.

:graucho:

I hope this works. It's spazmo2012's fake. (ETA: Sorry the link isn't clickable. I'm on someone else's computer and I don't want to fill DD's computer with what she'd consider junk.)

Here's the photo of the fake 92018 from the link BeenBurned posted for comparison, along with a close-up of the badly faked hangtag and the C pattern on the Heart.

Thanks so much! I figured it would be a 2003 since the article indicated a change to serial codes was after 1993. I never could find a definite list regarding the factory codes so that was kind of confusing for me. I'm especially happy to have a name since all I could find on the bay were listings saying Soho, expandable tote, or speedy satchel which I never found anywhere else online.

I greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your knowledge with me!

There's a reason you have doubts. It's fake.

Thanks, I noticed the fake font on the hangtag and the funny shaped Cs in the heart charm.

The 2nd one from GW...
Approx. 10"w x 6"h x 2"d. Strap drop 23" to rings.
Googled for the style number and came up with a 2012 AT Coach response from Hyacinth calling a similar bag a Sterling Clutch...from 1994 #9945. yes? I had never seen one before...now if I can rid it of the ink that's under the flap.
Thanks again, in advance!

Am I having a senior moment, or did I not see a response to my AT request on page 592 #8879?
Thanks, as always!

Sorry about that - it's fine.

Thank you. My only concern was the first picture, sew line above magnetic snap closure.the stitching dips suddenly way down low almost off the leather then corrects back.

Stuff happens. Coach isn't going to discard a bag just because of a wobble in the stitching, especially when it's not in plain sight.

You can't go by any factory code list. Some codes were used only by one specific factory while others were swatted back and forth between different plants like a tennis ball. Post the details here and we can decide if the code is correct for the style, month and year of the bag, and the font(s) used in the serial number. That's how codes have to be analyzed. And that's why there's no definitive list and will never be one.

At the risk of alienating you nice ladies of the Forum, I am happy to report I do have grocery delivery here in Seattle. Amazon Fresh is awesome. No more trips to the store if it is raining. And it rains a lot here! I don't care what the delivery boy looks like, I "just wants me food!"

Lucky Seattle! Wish there was a decent service in the Chicago 'burbs. Rain here usually isn't a problem, but walking about a hundred yards to our garage in the middle of January in 20-below wind chills and half an inch of ice on the parking lot can be a bit nerve-wracking. I'd be happy to put up with an ugly delivery boy as long as he'd brave our parking lot AND carry those bags up to our third-floor walkup! :D

Well I just bought this bag on ebay with very little info to go on as the price seemed good and time ran out. I guess it is a gamble. I think it looks like a Patricia's Legacy, but the measurements given are not the same (11.5 by 10.5 by 4 3/8 on the Coach website). Can anyone offer an opinion, even with so little to go on? When I can I'll take pictures of the creed and tag. Thanks so much

I grew up near Detroit. Winter can be tough. Be careful!
