Hello! I have been lurking in the coach section of the forum for quite a while, this is my first post. After reading through hundreds of posts here and learning a lot, I realize that my thrifted Willis is a fake. I'm hoping not to make that mistake again and would like to know if this purse I just purchased is authentic. I have already paid but the seller guarantees authenticity, thanks very much in advance.

Item: COACH BROWN LEATHER VINTAGE SMALL SHOULDER BAG PURSE AUTHENTIC 4104 SUPER SALE
Listing number: 261589619836

It's genuine, and was called a Soho Small Zip, made in 1998.

Comments: I'm slightly confused by the small serial number difference. The Coach creed looks like it's read as "E04S-9507" I've seen several bags like these before, but all of the bags I've seen in this style so far have the serial number "G04S-9507". It even comes with a dust bag and suede cleaning kit, but I'm still curious about the authenticity of the bag.

Before you buy another Coach you need to read all six of the Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay. They cover that kind of information about creeds and serial numbers along with what kind of "guides" to believe and what so-called Rules Coach does and doesn't follow. The explanation for the differences in the numbers is in those Guides.

Save and Bookmark the Guides and the URL because even though it seems like a PITA to read all of them, you'll get more accurate information from a half-hour's reading than you'd get in a year searching for answers to your questions on the internet. And it doesn't hurt to go back once a month and read them again just to refresh your memory. If you have any questions about anything in the Guides I'll be glad to answer them.

Your bag is a genuine Soho Suede Flap Satchel.

Hi everyone!
This is kind of a "heads-up" notice, because I don't really know how else to handle this issue.

Seller: gotitforsale2009
Old auction number (my purchase): 331327479812
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-purse...812?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d24a82004
New auction number: 231349335227
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=231349335227

I bought a group of three "authentic" Coach bags and after I got them I found that the black drawstring bag was fake. Most notably the serial number, besides looking wonky, was wrong for this style. It was M3B-9893 - which a lot of you will already know is the style number for the small turnlock Scooter bag.

I wrote the seller , gave them details about my findings, and asked if I should return them all or if she wanted to give me a partial refund for the counterfeit bag and their terse answer was "send them all back". (No apology, nothing.) I returned them thru the managed returns process so it did not cost me for the label. I got my refund immediately.

Unfortunately, now the seller has relisted this group!
I do feel an ethical responsibility for someone else getting rooked, what should I do?

I think you should report them, indicating that you know the black one is fake based on your prior purchase.

It's a tricky situation for any of us to report them because we can't see the creed to use as evidence that it is fake. Did you happen to keep a picture?

I notice she raised the price.

I'm not a fan of arbitrarily negging a seller who might have made an honest mistake, but since this seller knowingly relisted the bag after finding out that it was fake (something BTW that she should have done before listing it in the first place). IMO, she has earned the negative feedback you might consider leaving her. THAT'S the way to warn a future buyer! "Lot listing includes fake, seller relisted known fake."

Notice that gotitforsale2009's current listing still describes the bags as authentic.

ETA: Sheesh! Not only did gotitforsale2009 relist a bag knowing it's fake, but she raised the BIN price! Yep, she deserves a neg!

Comment: So my Mom decided to buy a Coach wristlet on eBay without consulting me first ::facepalm:: (She bought it intending on having me rehab it, but it's already in near perfect condition if it's real.) I feel pretty good about the authenticity of this one though. Anybody know how old it is? FP or MFF? I already asked her if there's a tag inside showing where it was made, since the pictures don't show it.

It's authentic, style 6571 and approximately 9-10 years old. It's some type of hamptons pebbled leather (perforated?) wristlet.

Here's the suede version (6574) from the Wayback machine (Feb. 2005). That one was called New COACH HAMPTONS SUEDE LARGE WRISTLET $78

This is in reply to both responses from Beenburned and Whateve...

No, I certainly don't expect anyone to report the listing. That's unfair to do because there is nothing in the listing that reveals it's a fake. Unfortunately I did not take a photo because when I wrote the seller about it they return they agreed and I used the managed returns process, so I never had to send them photos or anything.
The price went up obviously because the seller lost the shipping fees from the original shipping and the return...lol. Heaven forbid they accept responsibility and take the loss!

I agree that I should leave a neg, first of all for not even a hint of an apology,
but because they relisted it!
I so hate to neg sellers because I always feel like karma will punish me, I know it's crazy but when you sell it is so stressful - and I also fear retaliation. But this is not Dr. Phil's show so let's skip that end of it...lol.
I will take it under advisement!
Thanks.

Your question: I do feel an ethical responsibility for someone else getting rooked, what should I do?

I know that people who sell know the repercussions that receiving a negative feedback can have. I also know that you asked how to protect another buyer (presumably and probably one who isn't as familiar with Coach as you are) who might buy from this seller.

I like to reserve negs for sellers who are scammers, who are fraudsters, and/or those who lie. IMO, gotitforsale2009 is one of those types of sellers. Even if she was unaware that the bag was fake prior to listing it and even if she honestly believed it to be genuine, she now knows that she was mistaken. Yet she knowingly relisted it, again used "authentic" (not that the word is necessary) in her listing and seems to be aware that her next buyer may not be as familiar with Coach and will probably think the bag is authentic.

You aren't able to contact any bidders or buyers since ebay's anonymization of IDs makes that impossible. What other legal way do you have to prevent this seller from ripping off her next buyer?

You are 100% right and I should not even have hesitated.
I guess I was just feeling very misguided compassion for someone that had no right to deserve it at all.
Thanks for your input!

Hey guys I picked up this old city bag while thick girls today. I want to make sure it is good before I start working on it! All it needs is an old fashion bath and reshape! Please let me know what you think! Thank you for your time!
