Hello

I'm a newbie.

Can you please authenticate this:

Items: Coach Leather Dark Blue Purse
Item#: 261405775742
Seller: New1Used12

URL:http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Leath..._CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3cdcff977e#shpCntId

Seller states in description the purse is made in Italy. However with a little Ctrl+ zooming the creed label states New York City.

Thank you kindly
:smile1:

I'm especially curious about this handbag since other sellers on Ebay refer to it as "Bonnie Cashin 1970s Kisslock Tote" and are asking for quite a bit more.

The Ebay sellers photos (seen on the URL) make the inside of the bag look like a much lighter blue.

Thank you for any insight or guidance you can provide.

Thanks I thought it might have been. Is it a faked style or just a style that Coach never made? Thanks.

Coach didn't make a domed style in the pattern shown.

This is gmsunshine's fake:

Coach made these:

style 6963:

Style 1489:

Style 1490:

Style 1491:

There were other accessories; keychains, scarves, etc. but no dome-shaped bag.

Sorry. My pics aren't showing. Will edit with PB links.

Could someone please take a look at these three bags? The first one is from shopgoodwill, the other two in my possession. The official names are appreciated, too!

Number one: Coach Madison Sutton Satchel.
Seller: Goodwill Industries of South Central Wisconsin.
Link: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=15620882

Number two: Penny Purse (I think)
Measures 9.5" x 6.5"

Please scroll down to post #743, in some reason this one was cut in half.

Good Friday Lovely Ladies!

This is not an auction, so it's not in normal format. I'm having an issue, this bag screams authentic (creed, stitching, hangtag, plant code, year, style) but the one thing creating doubt for me is the leather texture - very stiff. Normally the Costa Rica leather is extremely soft and I can't get over how stiff this one is. Can you help me. I included the creed, a stitching photo.....thanks in advance.

Wait for others to comment on authenticity because I'm not totally familiar with bags of this era.

However I do have a couple of comments regarding other ebay sellers' listings.

Many sellers incorrectly describe older bags as much older than they are and also describe them as "Bonnie Cashin" and/or vintage when they are neither BC or vintage.

As for the listing you asked about, the seller says that it's made in USA in the item specifics and made in Italy in the description. If confirmed authentic, the bag was NOT made in Italy and that part of the description is wrong.

Regarding the color, the photo where the color appears to be a lighter blue, I think that's a result of the flash. Sometimes a flash photo makes the color appear lighter than it is.

This ergo looks pretty good to my untrained eye (from what pictures there are) but when I googled there are 2 other bags (1 ebay and 1 etsy) that were sold with the same exact serial number even though they are different colors. Not sure if that is a problem or normal for this time period.
Thanks in advance!!

Have you tried bathing it? Maybe it was treated with something? Also did you compare the pocket size to an authentic bag?

The bag appears to be an authentic watermelon tote from the late 70s or early 80s. It was made in New York City. What worries me a little is that the interior doesn't look like it is navy but that might be from the flash. If it isn't navy all the way through, then that means the bag has been dyed or painted. In fact, you can see blue marks in the zipper picture that look like paint. The leather is also awfully wrinkled. Normally these bags have stiff, smooth leather.

The bag looks fine. This style is highly faked so it is a good idea to always get them authenticated. Those measurements are way off! Coach listed them at 12 x 9 x 3. Goodwill is probably measuring to the top of the strap. The serial number indicates the date and place of manufacture, and the style number, so several bags of different colors, but the same style, will have the same number.
