Thanks BeenBurned,
I'm on cold medicine so my brains not working real well......sorry.....:(.
I'm trying to figure out how to link my photos on here.

Hope that works.....as you can see on the creed the words glove-tanned are not on the same line so that makes me wonder.
Thank you!

As BeenBurned has already mentioned, at least 95 percent (and I'm being generous) of those so-called Authenticity Guides are partly or completely WRONG. Anyone who claims that Coaches "ALWAYS have such-and-such a feature" are full of horse poop. Stop paying attention to them, they're a waste of time

Except these, of course, because they DON'T claim that something as easy to fake as zippers can prove a Coach is genuine. And even these are going to have some exceptions not mentioned in detail:

If you want to know if something's genuine, ask at this forum. Otherwise, ignore worthless Guides where the authors' only skill is the ability to Copy&Paste the same utterly wrong BS from another clueless author's "guide".

There's nothing wrong with that bag. Technically it's not "vintage" since it's only 9 years old, and Vintage items should be 20 years old or more

Edited to add - it's a good idea to post a link to information you're mentioned in other threads at other tpF forums. Or better yet, post all your questions in one place:

Leather isn't always going to smell like leather. It's skin, and like skin it picks up whatever smells are around it. Like someone at the other thread mentioned, how something is stored can have a big effect on how a bag smells.

Can someone please tell me if the creed says glove-
tanned (just like that on separate lines) does it mean it's
not a real Coach? I thought I read that somewhere.....

We need to see a picture of the creed and the front of the bag (at the very least).

See post #1 of the thread for the required information and posting format.

I don't know where you read or what you read but 99% of the "authenticity" guides permeating the internet are either incomplete, obsolete or just plain wrong.

(On this forum, you can link to actual listings - unlike the ebay boards! It makes life easier!)

It's fine. That bag is from 2005.
Here's a bag from 2003 with glove-tanned split into 2 lines:

Thank you soooo much! It helps to see another one (not that I don't believe you because I do!).
I think my problem is that I've read so much about the vintage bags that I'm starting to get confused....my cold medicine isn't helping matters any....
The other thing I notice about this bag is that the leather is different than my one made in NYC.
It's still very nice, just different. Guess it's true what they say that the leathers can be different depending on where it's produced.

Thank you Hyacinth, you're right.....it's not technically 'vintage' is it? And thanks for that info about the 'smell' of leather or lack thereof. I'm thrilled with my true vintage bag, leather smell or not!
And thanks for the hand-slap about reading those other so-called "guides". They seem to be filled with a ton of bad information.

Unfortunately that's true. And worse, human nature always tends to believe the first piece of "information" they read on a certain subject, and rejects everything they hear or read afterwards as wrong, so that makes it really hard to get a lot of those useless "facts" out of peoples' heads. I've been trying for 8 years now and it's an uphill battle, that's why I was glad to help out with the Salearea Guides.

As for the questions of hyphenated words - older classic and vintage Coaches, by that I mean the pre-China bags from before 2000, usually never had single or combination words that were split between 2 lines of the creed and hyphenated. There may have been a few examples, mostly in bags made outside the US, but usually when Coach designed their creed stamps they avoided hyphenated words, they simply adjusted the spacing of the words to be sure they fit correctly into the space available.

Once bags started being made in China, some of the "rules" were relaxed or changed since the creeds were becoming a lot more uniform and those big gaps like you see in the old vintage bags "... scars, scratches, veins, and wrinkles..." were no longer considered acceptable. What may have been a common practice at one time period often changed over the years, so what was considered normal 20 or 15 years ago would NOT be today.

That's one HUGE problem with so many of those useless guides. Coach's way of doing things changes constantly and you can never compare a feature or format from 3 or 5 or 10 years ago to how Coach does a similar proces now. None of the guides ever takes that into consideration since the guide authors (or copiers) never bother to analyze what they're writing about or check their "facts", they just Copy & Paste and post.

The one I have in mind is the the just called the drawstring sac. It came out in with the light weight line in the late '80s. I think lula's is very similar though. It may even be the same bag with a different name. I have to take a closer look

Here's my Lula's Legacy. It's a heavier bag...thick chewy leather...in my opinion not like the lightweight line at all. I hope my statement is accurate; I am not an authority. I did have this bag authenticated here on tpf

Could someone please authenticate this Coach Bag?
Bought at Goodwill yesterday...this bag was with the brown one I posted last week...this week it was marked down, so now I have both!
Approx. 9”w x 9”h x 5”d Strap drop 13”
1998 Soho Buckle Bag #4157...right?
Thanks in advance, as always!
