Item:VINTAGE RARE OLIVE GREEN LEATHER COACH CASHIN PRE CREED BAG PURSE

comment: I'm pretty certain this is an authentic Basic Bag, however I'm intrigued by the lack on an inside pocket which is where the creed and registration number would usually be stamped. On the 7th and 8th pics I think I can see another row of holes so I'm wondering if it has been re-stitched after the inside pocket was removed. Any thoughts anyone?

I'm wondering why someone would remove the pocket. If I were going to remove the pocket, I would just carefully cut it out - there would be no reason to restitch it. It looks authentic but without a creed or Coach stamp, there is no proof. According to Coach.com, the basic bag was introduced in 1974, right around the time Bonnie Cashin left; at that time, there would have been at least a Coach imprint. I suspect the olive color wasn't made until the 80s but I don't have definite proof of that. Sage was a 1981-1982 Spring color. It isn't one of the "original 10 colors" but we know that many Bonnie Cashin bags were made in colors that weren't in the "original 10" either.

Thanks Whateve. I'll ask the seller if there's any evidence of the pocket being removed.

Hi!

I need authentication please on this bag. I purchased it before I knew about tPF, and I am hoping it is not fake. The interesting part is that is small print it says "Coach Bag Registration Number" below the blank strip where the Creed code should be. It looks the same style as the Coach Slim Satchel Standard #9430 I have, same dimensions. I am just curious as to why the strip doesn't show the Creed numbers, and is it authentic? :confused1:
I was also wondering that if this particular style made post-BC is considered Bonnie Cashin inspired.

TIA!

Yeah, I have this bag in black also, but I was worried because I saw in a way older post about this purse, that it came in lime, black, wheat, camel, tomato (I would love to see that) and white, no mention of brown anywhere.

On the 1997 website, those were the colors listed. I've gotten several bags that came in colors that weren't listed in the ads I've seen. This looks like chocolate. On this site, they list all the colors(maybe): http://www.ebay.com/gds/Coach-Sonom...-Leather-Nubuc-Bags-/10000000001593405/g.html

I've got two green nubuc Sonomas but I've never seen a color chart that lists ivy as a nubuc color.

Coach changed the Sonoma colors every year, usually around mid-year. None of the individual catalogs show every color ever made for that line. The GigiTrading Guide also missed a few colors. There were separate color options for Natural Grain and for Nubuc.

Spruce was a Nubuc-only color in Fall-Winter 1994. Black, Chocolate and Ivy were all Natural Grain-only colors from Fall & Winter 1996.

Hello Ladies! I've just been catching up on the last few pages and all this about flannel gray-- well here's a GW purchase from the other day that I believe is Flannel Gray. If you would kindly authenticate with the actual name and any info;
Style: Bleeker Tote or Bleeker Zipper Tote
Measures 11 3/4" x 8 3/4" x 3 7/8" with 26" strap.
Polished nickel top zipper with nylon zipper on inside pocket. Missing hang tag.

I'm not an authenticator but you may find this useful.

The Bleecker Pocket Zip is genuine, the color is either Black or Dark Gray. Flannel Gray was lighter and wasn't used in the late 1990s.

Ah, so my bags are spruce! They were both made in April 1994. Thanks! I'd love to find one in ivy.

It is an authentic slim satchel standard. It had a glued-in serial number at one time. It either fell off or was removed by a previous owner. The glued-in serial numbers may have been used from the late 70s up to early 80s, during which time the creeds included a registered trademark symbol. I don't recall seeing any evidence that these styles were Bonnie Cashin inspired.
