Hi! I am new so I am hoping I am doing this properly! :smile1:

Item: Vintage Coach Shoulder bag
Listing number: I own
Seller: I truly don't remember
Link:

Comments: I have had this bag for years (notice the cobwebs). I think it is a pre 1994 bag. It has a brass toggle closure and hardware with some tarnishing present. The Creed number is No 0405-301. I think it is authentic but wanted to make sure and was wondering if anyone knows the style name if it is genuine.

I have several of these vintage purses that I would like to authenticate.

Thank you!

It appears to be an authentic Bradley bucket #9936, made in the early 90s. For any pre 1994 bag with unique serial numbers, it helps if you provide us with the measurements as well since many styles are similar.

It's called a Bradley Bucket, and the style number is 9936. It was probably made in late 1993.

BTW, when asking about vintage bags (20 years old or older) please try to post measurements any time the bag's serial number is all numbers and no letters (pre-1994). And if we give a bag a name and number, that means it's genuine. Fakes don't deserve either and will just be described as fake.

Welcome to tPF! :smile1:

Comments: After doing some research here on the internet, I found the style of this purse is a leather shoulder Court style number 9870. Everything seems to be correct comparing from others' pictures. But the J8U prefix is what is worrying me. I think I read on this forum that the "J" were suspect? (which would be September, right?) Can anyone confirm this? Where would "U" be, the creed says Hungary?

It's authentic. You are right about the style name and number. The U factory code is correct for Hungary. The J8 prefixes are suspect for some US plants, not for Hungary.

That you very much! That was really fast!

OK measurements! I think it is the only one I have with just numbers, but I will find out as I am clearing out my purse closet.

Oh, I ddn't expect a name for fakes! Ha! Ha!

Comments: I don't think this is old enough to be considered vintage (what is the cutoff date). I believe this is a Soho shoulder flap. The "F" in front of the style number means factory store. "A" would be January, "07" means 2007, what does the "78" signify in the prefix? This creed says it was made in China.

By happy coincidence, this year 1994 is the cutoff for true vintage, specifically serials starting with H4*-. This is one of the many Soho Leather Flaps and made in 2007. "78" is one of the many plant codes for Coach's Chinese plants.

Details about Coach year codes, creeds and serial numbers can be found in the six Salearea Coach Guides posted at Ebay:

When someone has a moment I would appreciate opinion on authenticity on this courier pouch. I see no item number to site; I am attaching the website to go to; it is a brown "small" courier pouch; stated vintage, Bonnie Cashin and rare; I am not sure if it is any of those. I hope I have listed everything you need; I will provide anything else you ask!

Thank you for your help!

I have learned so much on this site and am starting to get hooked
on vintage so I can rehab!

It is authentic. The seller is correct in calling it a "small" courier pouch since the large courier pouch is 10 x 10 x 5. I haven't seen very many small ones so it is fairly rare. It was made after Bonnie Cashin left Coach since it has a serial number, and she left before they started using serial numbers. It is probably from the late 70s or early 80s.

Great--I appreciate the quick reply and the extra info--good to know!

Thanks so much for your time and you have a great evening!
