COACH Multi Colored Fabric Leather Trim Purse #L05Q - 1481

http://www.ebay.com/itm/251597164680?_trksid=p2045573.m570.l4455&_trkparms=gh1g%3DI251597164680.N7.S1.M224.R1.TR5

Listing: 251597164680

seller: diamondgirl24422

It's fake but it's one of the "best" fakes I've seen in that style!

The fabric colors and prints are off and the pattern placement is trying to copy the patterns of style 378, a similar but smaller bag.

This is what 1481 should look like:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-SPRIN...615?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item19f107921f

I'll be back with side-by-side comps showing the differences.

The side-by-side comparisons should make it obvious why the bag in question is fake. And notice that the full serial number on the fake is identical to that on the authentic bag.

It also is a very graphic example of why a valid and seemingly correct serial number does absolutely nothing to prove authenticity. And it further demonstrates why calling Coach, giving them the serial number and getting the matching style name in return isn't dependable.

You're right, that is a good fake...the Creed and everything...although you can tell the quality isn't there...that's what I noticed.
Thank you for the comparisons!

Hi everyone! Long time no see, I have been very busy so I'll have to catch up again on all the activity here.
Can I get some opinions on a few (3) bags?
THANKS IN ADVANCE! :D

Although it's pretty obvious when looking at another bag that's authentic, the fake from diamondgirl24422 is close enough that it would fool most people.

After further research into diamondgirl24422 's history, I can say that she's a seller I wouldn't recommend.

She sold this fake Coach:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-Signa...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Although this is the Coach subforum, I'm pointing out another fake from the seller. This is a current listing for a fake Burberry bag, described as "designer inspired." It's not "inspired" since it has Burberry markings:

Do not buy from diamondgirl24422

These show again why creed photos are so important, especially when we can't feel or physically examine a bag we're trying to authenticate. But each of those 3 fakes has major problems with the creed that just one photo would have exposed.

The Pat's Legacy has a plant code "E" that was only used for the Italy plant, but the creed says it was made in the US.

The Willis not only has a serial in a 3+4 format that would have been several years too early to have been used in any genuine Willis, but the 012-3445 serial is on Part One of my Fakes List - the font is also too thick:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-sh...enticity-questions-94198-72.html#post26447774

The white Station Bag shows a style number of -4154 but a genuine one would have used -5130. My Fakes List in the "always fake" section also says "M4N-4154 - Anything starting with M4N- is suspect and should be authenticated by an expert", and that number has been used in many fakes already. So far I haven't found a valid M4N- prefix that would show Coach actually made bags in the plant, month and year indicated by those codes. And if you look closely you'll see the word "scrtches" is missing the letter "a", another problem we've seen in dozens of fakes.

No matter how much experience someone has buying or selling Coaches, just being familiar with them won't help you spot all or even most of the fakes. The creed and serial number details are the most important and dependable tools but you need a lot of photos and information on real and fake ones to make valid comparisons. And sometimes, like Whateve pointed out when answering another authenticity question that I wasn't sure about:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach-shopping/authenticate-this-coach-855067-373.html#post27125055
you need a genuine version of the style for comparison.

So if a listing doesn't have actual READABLE photos of the creed and serial number and the seller won't or can't supply them, hit the Back button.

SO here's the latest UNBELIEVABLE development in this situation. The seller requested I give her a few days to get money to refund me, which I did, at which point she asked if I would accept a wire transfer. I said no (SKETCHY!!) and I was going to open a case. I noted in the case that I had marked the creeds on the fake bags and was going to donate them to Goodwill. (The seller asked me to destroy the fakes rather than return them.) A few hours later, I got an email from eBay customer support saying they had decided the case in the seller's favor and I will not receive a refund because the items are not in the original condition as when I received them. eBay also removed the negative feedback I left for the seller. I can "appeal" their decision and am currently on hold because they obviously made a HUGE mistake... but I'm aghast at how this has turned out. Now I have to spend all this time fighting their decision and trying to get my $200 back from this scam seller.

OMG that is crazy! I hope ebay comes to its senses soon. It's a shame you have to go through this.

The city bag appears authentic. The station bag is probably okay. Anytime you see an A factory code, it rings a few alarm bells. All the examples I have of the A factory code in 1995 have the "Made in the United States" at the bottom of the creed and the old wording. I suspect that the bag might have been made in 1996 and the wrong year was dialed in. It is probable that the A factory wasn't really open at that time but that bags that were made in NYC for training purposes had the A code, so a mistake like this is believable.

I have a couple of comments.

1. A wire transfer would have carried NO risk to you. Once she wired the money, you get the cash. (I'm assuming she meant western union or a similar service.) With wiring money, it's the sender who's at risk because the receiver has the cash.

2. NEVER deface or destroy an item until you have your refund. As in a case like this, ebay can demand you return it and returns must be in the same condition as you received it.

3. Please don't ever donate a fake, even if marked as such. It keeps the fakes in circulation.

I hope you appeal. Request that they read the seller's directions to destroy the bag.

Yes, well, lesson learned. Currently waiting appeal results.

Hi - I've had quite a few cases on ebay, so I'd like to add some advice if you have not done this already. CALL EBAY on the phone tell them you want to add information on a case and speak to someone in customer service. They often don't get the full story or they don't interpret things the right way by just reading thru the details of the case, and they can miss stuff, which is probably how they screwed this up on you.
Usually when I call ebay regarding a case it gets settled IMMEDIATELY while I am on the phone, no waiting for a decision, they just do whatever they have to do.
You should absolutely win since the seller told you to destroy the bags rather than return them.
