Hi there-- I am trying to authenticate this bag that I recently purchased from a thrift store. The number is E9B-6147 and was supposedly made in the US. I did a search for this style number and turned up several for sale on Ebay that all look similar and it is supposedly called a Monteray Flap. Each of the six that are posted on Ebay have either K3H-6147 made in USA or J92-6147 made in Turkey. The more I look the more they all seem questionable. Here are photos of my bag. Both the creed patch and the buckles look sketchy. Did Coach even make a bag like this? What would be a legit style number? Thanks

It looks like a genuine Monterey Flap Top Grain to me. There's nothing wrong with the creed or the buckles that I can see.

You can ONLY compare creed details between bags made in the same plant, month, and year and even then you might find differences.

This is a question about the color of a vintage Basic Bag. I posted in the rehab thread but thought some other experts in this thread could offer some advice.

These pics are in full sun and one in shaded natural light. I suspect either Saddle or British Tan. But I know there are special colors too that have been introduced.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Saddle would be my guess too but those older bags are too hard for me to figure out since the dates can't be pinned down and since Coach used a lot of tans and light browns during that period. Colors could change based on how the bag was taken care of too. Someone like Katev or Tetondeb might know.

Hope I am doing this right. It is my first post so please bear with me if I am in the wrong place. I am wondering if this ended listing, is authentic. In the description she states the serial number is 16467, but if you look at the label in the pics, there is no number on the label. I say fake. Please verify . ;)

I'm not familiar with the bag but a bag that size should have a serial number on the creed.

I can't find any listings or pictures showing the creed, but the style number should be 16734.

I wouldn't recommend buying the bag from mizprple76.

Other opinions are welcome. Maybe someone else might have the bag and can comment.

Thank you, Been Burned. I did post the link to the listing and there are pics in that listing. Won't it open for you? Thank you.
Yes, I saw mizprple76 's listing and the creed doesn't have a serial number.

My comment is indicating that I'm not comfortable with the bag (or its authenticity) because bags that size wouldn't have a creed without a serial number. Although I don't recommend reporting it because I don't report unless I'm certain that a back is fake, I wouldn't recommend buying that bag.

Most charms that were used on cell phone lanyards were also used on keychains.

The Crystal Turtle style 92311 is genuine. The only version of the Pave Pig I have a picture of is the lanyard # 92367 but I'm almost positive they made a keychain version (check all "pave" items carefully, the crystals had a tendency to fall out). The Pave Bird is another one that I can only find a picture of in the lanyard version so it's hard to say if the ones in your pictures are in their original configuration. Without a valid picture for comparison I'd just be guessing.

MOST of the very dark antiqued brass items are fake. Tha darker the "antique-ing" the more likely it is to be fake. The ones with Carriage charms are really hard to authenticate because some of them, the genuine ones at least, were taken off handbags and sold separately, and some were sold as regular jewelry items. I don't have photos of any of those, whether sold as stand-alone bracelets or included with bags. I don't think any Carriage charm bracelet-style items were ever sold as keychains. BeenBurned might be able to give an opinion on the Carriage item.

The pave pig keychain is 92360. (Sorry. My image is too large to post)

Aha! Found this in the Juicy sub-forum!

I'm sorry but I can't give an opinion on the carriage item.

Thank you both very much for all your information! For some reason, I was not notified that I had a reply in this thread and just now came back to look for myself. :p

Hi Everyone. I wanted to make sure that this bag is legitimate (my find) & if so, what style name and/or style# would it be and the approximate year would be great if at all possible.

It measures about 8 1/2 inches tall x 10 1/2 inches wide x 2 inches deep with an adjustable 15 inch drop (set on the 3rd hole from the top).

Here's a photo of the Coach creed the seller sent for item 251581271010:

I'm VERY familiar with the name of the first seller, and not for any good reasons. You need to check the seller's Ebay Feedback record at Toolhaus.org before thinking of buying from her:
http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=abawinful&Dirn=Received+by&ref=home

I won't authenticate any bags from that seller unless it's to expose a fake for what it is.

With all the Ebay forum changes her other IDs have probably dropped off the radar - she had at least 3 selling IDs and at least 3 posting IDs which was against Ebay forum rules. She sold at least one fake that was ID'd as a fake by at least 3 experienced Coachies including me at the old Ebay Shoes & Purses forum and refused outright to refund the buyer's money. She was reported several times after that for listing fake Coaches. If you use the Search link here at tPF, preferably the one at the main Coach forum index page, you'll find quite a few mentions of her. She also has a habit of using shoe polish on her designer bags without disclosing it and lying about some bags' condition, especially strong cigarette smells. NOT RECOMMENDED UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

We can't emphasize often enough how important it is to use search tools like Toolhaus.org and tPF's own forum search feature to research any seller you're thinking about trusting with your money.

The second one seems to be genuine.

Thank you so much and have a great day!

It's a genuine Saddle Pouch Large, style 9585 and probably from the early 1980s to 1987.

Thank you, Been Burned. The bag is re listed, but I won't bid on it, at your advice. I agree there should be a number on that label. Here is the new listing. She has many nice Coach bags for sale thaat look authentic. I may be back. Thank you so much.
