It looks authentic. It's a Rambler's Legacy. It does look scratched on the back of the purse. I don't know if it should look a lighter color underneath, like that. I would worry that it might have been treated with polish. Coach color goes all the way through the leather so a scratch is usually colorless or darker.
Thank you so much! Yes, I think you're right. I peeked under the edge of the trim leather and it is a bit lighter. I'm going to try to clean it......we'll see......

Ok two more and I'm done. Until I find another coach at a thrift store.....These I've had for years and always thought they were authentic, until now! Oh my how I've been schooled! Greatly appreciated! Ignorance is bliss until it bites you in the a**. I've tried to keep the pics to a minimum. Both purses have a hanging pocket, one has a zipper, one doesn't. The second pictured purse creed stamp is very light and was difficult to get a good image.

Please indulge my question, even though it's not relevant to Coach. I saw a Louis Vuitton recently in a thrift store (fake I'm sure) but I was so taken with it and started looking for LV on ebay.......shocking! There are soooo many and offered at .99 starting auctions.
I hate to be obtuse, but can't one assume that these are fake bags? Do customers knowingly just purchase these knowing they're fakes, or do they honestly think or hope that they may be real?
Admittedly I know nothing about authenticating LV bags but I sure do find them beautiful! I tried finding an authentication forum that focuses on LV but couldn't find one. Can anyone provide a link?
Thanks so much!

The LV section of tpf is very active, probably even more than Coach. You can get bags authenticated here: http://forum.purseblog.com/louis-vu...lv-read-rules-use-format-post-1-a-862263.html

I've seen a few LVs at thrift stores, some of which might have been authentic, but I didn't want to take a chance. You can't assume that an auction starting at .99 means a bag is fake. Because these bags are so popular, sellers figure there will be plenty of bidders. About a year ago, ebay encouraged sellers to start auctions at .99 because of their fee structure. That has since changed, but many sellers have kept the format because it worked so well. Often starting an auction low ends up with a higher end price because it generates a lot more bidders. It only works well for popular items though.

Thanks whateve, I guess a buyer's only recourse is to purchase on blind faith and then get it authenticated afterwards.....unless there's an authenticate the LV forum where you can send your links...?

Um, I don't understand. I just told you where to get it authenticated, didn't I? You can also get help on the ebay forum.

Sorry, I just saw that (don't know how I missed it the first time I read your post!). I tried to edit my reply but you were too quick for me! Thanks for that link, I'll go check it out...I do appreciate it:happydance::happydance:

Whateve posted the link for you. Be sure to read post #1 and follow the posting format and be sure you have the correct required pictures.

Because they're so busy there, if the format or pics aren't correct, they'll ignore your request.

They both look ok to me.

You're welcome! If you learn anything about authenticating LV, let me know! My SIL has a "made in the US" LV. I kept thinking it had to be fake, then I learned that they did make some in the US. Still, I don't think I would be able to tell a good fake from an authentic one. There are very few LVs that interest me anyway.

Thanks whateve, yes they did make some in the US. It's definitely a learning curve but I do love several of their styles so we'll see how it goes......it's kind of funny because I'm so very frugal.
The thought of me trying to buy a LV is comical!:lolots::lolots:

Listing number: 191139228981

Comments: Hi guys! I'm new in TPF! :D yayy! I've been eyeing this for a while but I am unsure of its authenticity due to the tag. It is different from all the other Coach Reginas I have been (online) and the beige stitching on the tag raises some alarm. But I am not sure. Again, serial number hidden and not listed... hmm. Thoughts?

Welcome to TPF! If you are interested in vintage, please join us in the Vintage chat clubhouse.

The hangtag is not original to the bag. It even has a silver chain even though the bag has brass hardware. From what I can see of the bag, it looks okay, but without a complete picture of the creed, including the serial number, I can't authenticate it. What else about the bag looks different from other Reginas to you? I don't think this bag looks new as the seller states. If you magnify the pictures, the corners look lighter, like they're worn. There is additional wear along the top of the back pocket. I wish I could see the writing on the price tag more clearly. It looks like it says "...Lthr top handle pouch" - I don't see the word "Regina" on there. I'm not sure that tag actually came with the bag. The other two cards definitely didn't come with it. One of them refers to "fabric handbags" and the other "specialty leathers," which to Coach wouldn't mean regular glove-tanned leather.
