The creed looks exactly like the plant code in this fake creed Hyacinth posted on a previous AT thread, see below pic, and was this color available in this year? (The zip looks wrong to me, too.)

Blech! Bad stitching, zipper doesn't continue under the tab. The eyelets are wrong on the strap. Looks like it was spray painted instead of dyed. Just...blech:sick:

And the serial number font is definitely fake. Serial numbers from the D plant during 1996 would never look like that, or be that "perfect". And that leather zipper pull tab is really bad, I could do better with my eyes closed.

Thank you BeenBurned

and for the mess below my initial request above...I made a mess of this post and while Whateve and Hyacinth both commented, I don't trust myself to even quote their posts and expect them to show up correctly. Suffice it to say, Thank you ladies, both of you, for rescuing me from whatever sink hole I was in...and may still be. I appreciate your gracious replies. I'm having a major flare up (MS) and my brain isn't working right. Thanks for your patience.
You're welcome! I hope you feel better.
I love it when y'all post catalog pix of bags I have. Bonus if its the same color like this one. My Stewardess is red also, she looks like her little sister. :)
I'm a scavenger for catalog photos, scrounging them wherever I can find them. Most of mine I can't find a catalog description that even mentions that it ever came in the color I have. Probably because I make it a goal to get the most unusual colors!

Hyacinth, I assume the button pushlock version came before the turnlock version, is that correct?

Yes, the Springlock closures (the small round spring-loaded button thingies) were mostly from the very early 1990s but the 9826 Mini Belt Bag still kept the Springlocks thru about 1996. The change to a turnlock was made in 1996 or 1997.

Thanks! I didn't realize they were the same style number until now.

Yep, it's unusual to change that and keep the same style number. When they discontinued the old Barclay Tote with the Springlock and then reintroduced it a few years later with a turnlock, they gave it a new style number too. Maybe the Mini kept the same number because it was still in production when the lock type was changed.

The bag in the listing seems okay. From what we've been able to determine, the "E" after the style number is an exclusive made for (possibly?) Dillards.

What are you googling? If you search ebay and/or google "Coach 26141" you should find several -- omit the "E":

(Note that I haven't looked at the listings in the above link so I can't comment on their authenticity but the purpose of the link is to show what I found.)

Thank you. I searched on ebay, but I was googling to find the same bag sold in a regular store.

I'm pretty sure this is a style that was made for Coach outlets. The only place you would find them online is on a secondary selling site like ebay or on the invitation only site, Coachfactory.com.

Can someone please authenticate this briefcase for me? Everything looks ok except for the fact it was "made in Italy"? :thinkin:

Briefcase product Number is: 5090

She does not show all 4 corners of the bottom. You want to make sure the pockets are still inside the seams on all sides. Remember this is a hand held brief, not a shoulder bag. Sometimes the handles of older bags get either sticky or very soft.

TO EVERYONE WHO REPORTS FAKES TO EBAY, PLEASE READ:

Thanks to some research by Tetondeb and by Jed Winokur at the Coach Archives, it seems that some of the "Bean Bag" creeds that I've been insisiting are fake for a long time may actually be genuine.

Tetondeb has an example and an explanation from Jed in her current listings. Since I'm not the seller I'll post a link:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=261460269733&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

The important part is "It is stamped "bean bag" and while visiting the Coach Archives in NYC, I asked about this. I was told that around the time of this bag's production, Coach made small bean bag paper weights as executive gifts. The head archivist stated that the stamp was likely left on the press and was used on bags before the error was corrected..."

It sounds logical in a Coach sort of way, and a lot of the details of the stamping and apparent dates of the bags involved seem to make sense. Where Coach's Quality Control was while this was going on would probably make interesting reading, but as we've said many times, "the most consistent thing about Coach is their inconsistency". Looks like we have more proof, as if we needed it.

There are still some proveable fakes with Bean Bag creeds, so please ask at the Authenticate This Coach thread before reporting ANY of them.

My deepest and most sincere apologies for anyone who may have had a genuine bag removed or disposed of. I'll try to get the various Guides updated as soon as possible. I'll also cross-post this at the Hall Of Shame and the Answers threads.
