Is the strap attached to the sides or to the back of the bag? Permanaent or removeable?

Yes it is removeable and it has belt loops on the back.

Those kind of details are important. Please be sure to include pictures showing any unusual details when asking for an ID or authentication.

It's a Mini Belt Bag style 9826 from some time between 1991 and 1993

Hyacinth, I assume the button pushlock version came before the turnlock version, is that correct?

The "relationship" you have is presumably based on trust and honesty, right? Since you say you've purchased other great bags from her, I'd like to assume this sale was an honest mistake and if she's honorable, she should be very apologetic and agreeable to a refund. And if she isn't, she'll have lost a good customer!
I would never be afraid to ask for a refund, especially in a case like this. A good shop owner cares about customer service and satisfaction. She should do the right thing.
I totally agree with been burned!

I start to do that too. Now that you asked, I started looking at my Made in the United States creeds, and I can't find one just like this. I have some where the overstamping marks are similar and you can see a box around the No. On the creeds I have like that, some have the same word arrangement per line and others are different. But all of mine have the word Leatherware clearly present in the cartouche except for the Lightweights. I don't see any problems with the bag so I'm probably overthinking it.

I've seen a few bags from that time period where the Leatherware was so worn away it was almost invisible, this may have the same problem. The smaller the bag opening, the more likely that there's extra-heavy wear on that part of the creed.

Below is a creed from a 9x7 Paris Bag, style 4100 from around 1989, one of the Lightweights. "Leatherware" is almost completely worn away. I marked it as "questionable" when I saved it, but that was 4 years and probably at least 5000 creeds ago. The wear to that part of the creed was the part I was questioning but it could and did happen.

Thank you, Hyacinth and Whateve -

I have seen "Leatherware" disappear due to wear on certain bags, thanks for directing my attention to the size of the bag and use pattern of the previous owner. It's a very important detail to keep in mind when looking at vintage handbags.

And, thanks, for the comparative stamp, too. The smaller bags must have been difficult to wrangle. I have often wondered if the stamp was applied to the pocket before assembly or after.... a question we will likely never know the answer.

Cheers.:smile1:

Once in awhile, you'll find the creed in the wrong place on a bag, which makes me think they were applied before assembly and someone put it on the wrong piece.

Hi, ladies! I've been looking for a rehab project, and this bag caught my eye. When you have a moment, could you please let me know if it's authentic? Thanks!

Item: COACH VINTAGE "CLASSIC ORIGINAL" PUTTY LEATHER SHOULDER/POUCH BAG NYC
Item #: 261455448390
Seller: 2011dahandyman702

Boy, you must be really looking for a challenge! It's authentic. The seller has a negative from a very unhappy Coach buyer.

:D I've been watching that bag for awhile, watching the price drop, and have been considering it for a rehab project....but the sad tale of the white crescent  has prevented me from pulling the trigger. Besides that I have too, too, too many flap bags at the moment.:p I do think it has potential, though, if the leather is solid...but ...how does one know???

I saw a Willis like that this morning, but without a full pic of the creed I couldn't tell if the bag was the real deal or a fake. Of course, suspicious me just assumed it was fake, but I was too complacent (read: uncaffeinated) at that moment to message the seller for a better creed photo. Maybe I'll go look for it and post a pic for you to look:see.

I was so surprised to see what happened to the crescent. I rehabbed a bag like this one. I think mine was in worse condition than this one, and it didn't fall apart in the bath. It was very sturdy. The leather never really softened up very much. I probably would use different products now.

Coach's picture of a 1980s-era stamping machine seems to confirm that. That's definitely a large unattached piece of leather in the photo.

I know that it's against ebay's rules to sell Coach hang tags....does anyone know if the same rule applies to Etsy?
Just curious......and no, it's not something I'm thinking of doing.....:graucho:

Not sure. But I don't thinks it's against the rules to buy them.
Listing and buying hang tags isn't like listing and buying fakes.

The reason ebay has the policy against hangtags, tissue, boxes, paperwork and other items that aren't sold by themselves is that dishonest sellers have been known to use authentic props to "prove" authenticity of fakes. In fact, when the prohibited accessories policy was first implemented on ebay, it was introduced to disallow "items that encourage infringement."

Other sites may allow the sale of those items, and although I understand why people might buy hangtags and dustbags, I can see no legitimate reason why someone would purchase care cards, registration cards, and other items that have little use to anyone other than the original purchaser and little use without the original item they came with.

This is the seller I bought my Crescent from that disintegrated when I washed it. She didn't offer even a partial refund just discount on a very shabby BC for Meyers bag.

Thank you for the heads up!

I'm thinking I might try and look around for another challenging rehab elsewhere...or I might chicken out and just snag an easier City Bag rehab project I'm currently watching instead. LOL
