It's fake. Whenever you see a frame of sorts around the entire number, it isn't authentic, and the J8H prefix was used on a lot of counterfeits. Plus the seller called the style a trail bag!

The bag looks authentic. It was made in the mid 70s when Coach started using the creed. The early creeds didn't have serial numbers. I've never seen that exact style before. It looks like it might have been an early version of the convertible clutch. On some very early bags, straps were attached to those grommets with dogleash clips.
I wasn't sure about that either, I thought she meant 1995. Her info is really confusing, at first I thought she was saying she had bought the purse and then she goes on to say she got it at a thrift store. I haven't seen that exact metal zipper pull before but the Korean fakers were fond of using fake Coach-stamped hardware even though Coach wasn't. I'd say Korean too. And no way would a Companion Bag from ANY date cost 278 bucks. That's about twice the actual retail.
And when I enlarge the 2 photos in the listing showing the creed, the bottom line definitely says "Made In " and then a single word that's slightly larger than the "Made". So it's definitely Korea. It's hard to see in the photos but it's there.
