The pocket shape is one of the things that bugged me straight off, it's more round than that, and I'm pretty sure the number is not right :( Zipper pull now looks suspect on closer inspection (sloppier stitching, and not closed on the loop end, if that makes sense) and buckles are stamped 'solid brass'. I really wanted it to be good, blaaaah.
Those three things are the most common mistakes I see in a fake. Whether the buckles are brass colored or not, they shouldn't be stamped 'solid brass' unless the bag is from before the early 80s. A lot of fakes don't have the stitching closed on the loop end of the zipper pull. Now you know part of what to look for.

I was a sucker for that color, definitely. I think I'm going to make a little makeup bag out of it...

Dakotas and maybe a few Sheridans are an exception, some had stamped "Solid Brass" buckles into the very early 1990s.

I agree, fake. The bottom edge of the turnlock pad should also be more defined but that seller is sneaky enough to know which parts of her questionable bags to photograph and which not to. The font used in the Coach logo is also too big and is the older "fat" font that was already being phased out. If they were still using an old fat font creed stamp it probably should have been one of the "Leatherware" ones. That logo part of the creed stamp doesn't match anything else in my files. And like a lot of questionable or known fake serial number stamps, the digits are just TOO perfect, at a time when the real ones were NOT.

And I can't find another one from early 1994 but I don't think the Willis used the older industrial-style inside pocket zipper with the demin-color backing, but it looks like this one has it.

Just a quick correction on the Willis inside zipper - since posting this, I've seen a very early, apparently genuine one with the old all-number serial and an industrial-style inside zipper with denim-look fabric so it's possible Coach still used them, but probably not past 1994.

They did pretty blues in some bags. They are probably prettier in an authentic bag. I have a blue belted pouch that is gorgeous. There is also a periwinkle and an aqua.

Thank you! I just checked my Dakota and it does say "solid brass." Not any of my Sheridans though.

Ooooh aqua! Seems like most of blue bags are newer ones I'm not looking for, unfortunately :/

Hi,
How about this bag, I've never seen one like this.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/231199715211?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

seller ID: gugli_us

item num: 231199715211 The creed is hazy, Thanks in advance

The number looks like 0974-534 to me. This number is on the fakes list as probably fake. This bag looks fake to me. The font looks too thick. That isn't a Coach strap.

Also the whole shape of the bag especially from the side is wrong and not a Coach design, and the long strap is mounted much too far down on the sides making the purse unbalanced and liable to flip over, especially with those heavy top handles.
