Comments: This seller debbieb208 and her Etsy alterego, GutsyGirls have been discussed with multiple fakes in the last month and a half, some of which were removed and relisted several times.

Although I know this bag (if authentic) wouldn't be a "Bonnie Cashin" as described (since it would have been made 20 years after her death), I'm wondering whether it was made by Coach.

The serial number font looks off, the pillow above the turnlock seems to be missing the row of stitching and the dowel end appears to be bare painted wood.

I believe it is fake. The color of the thread really bothers me. The creed is terrible. The lozenge has too many frames. We've seen that font on many fakes. Compare it to this G plant creed from the same year.

I agree, fake. The bottom edge of the turnlock pad should also be more defined but that seller is sneaky enough to know which parts of her questionable bags to photograph and which not to. The font used in the Coach logo is also too big and is the older "fat" font that was already being phased out. If they were still using an old fat font creed stamp it probably should have been one of the "Leatherware" ones. That logo part of the creed stamp doesn't match anything else in my files. And like a lot of questionable or known fake serial number stamps, the digits are just TOO perfect, at a time when the real ones were NOT.

And I can't find another one from early 1994 but I don't think the Willis used the older industrial-style inside pocket zipper with the demin-color backing, but it looks like this one has it.

For comparison (and I still really want a blue one, dagnabbit, although twice the price so far) this one looks kosher, yeah?

Definitely NOT !!! DON'T buy that bag!

Fake color not used during that time period - classic leather bags in brights and bright pastels, except for classic reds, are almost ALWAYS fake. This one is no exception. Don't EVER buy any unusual colors without having them authenticated first.

And the entire serial number is completely wrong - please read the Salearea Guides to learn which digits and codes Coach did and didn't use in their serial numbers. "T" is an invalid month code, and the 1994 year code was three years too early for any Coach bag with silver-color hardware. There's a period in front of the month code, style number -9092 belongs to a Tribeca Flap from the late 1990s, and there are another half-dozen mistakes I won't even go into. A quick Ebay Search for "Coach 9092" would have turned up nine examples of what that style is supposed to look like, plus that blue fake.

If you bid on that nasty thiing, cancel your bid IMMEDIATELY.

Thanks for confirming. I find it amazing that debbieb208 hasn't hit any restrictions yet despite the quantity of different fakes she's had removed.

I don't know how much the listing will tell, really haha...pics are almost worthless, I just took a stab, since it was listed for pretty cheap. The seller seems to mostly sell slightly altered thrift clothes, and this was an odd item. I just crossed my fingers.

Looks like a fake, then...well now I wonder what do I do with it?! :/ first time I've bagged a fake (oh terrible pun). The seller probably found it at some thrift store, and had no idea. Such a pretty color, bummer.
And what in the world are you doing up at this hour?
You shouldn't be stuck eating the loss for a fake.

Whether she knew it was fake or not is irrelevant. It's the seller's responsibility to know items are authentic or to confirm authenticity prior to listing.

Let your seller, EarthangelsAttic know that the bag is fake and you want to return it for a full refund. (If she doubts your claim, refer her to the posts here.) Most honorable sellers will do the right thing when they've made an honest mistake.

If she refuses your request for a refund, see if you can figure out how to file a dispute through Etsy or if you used Paypal, file SNAD through PP or with your credit card company.

Here are two pictures, the top one is the fake, the lower one is genuine. The genuine ones should usually have a concave curve on the borrom edge of that "padding" to follow the curved shape of the turnlock plate. When you see one that's straight across on the bottom like the lighter camel-color one, always get it authenticated here before you buy it.
Now I have to go and check mine as well!

Arg I can't get my phone to quote multiple posts!

Glad I hadn't placed a bid on that other blue bucket! I've just been really wanting something in that pretty light blue. Definitely checking anything else blue here first!

I sort of hate to bother with asking that seller for a refund, since I really don't think she had any idea. I figure I can just use it for some craft projects, and hack it up. Hmmm.

Its up to you, but its her responsibility as a seller to do her research..unintentional or not, you paid $$ for a fake bag...

I did, but I can probably make some constructive use of the leather, and save myself all the hassle of sending it back to her, to get a refund for what little I paid. Not a super expensive lesson learned, for being too eager and trusting.

While I'm on the light blue warpath, and for future reference they make this style (4164) in this shade?
I'm not biting on this exact bag, it's way too sunfaded, but I've seen them around.

I believe that bag is fine.
