Yikes! I didn't know it was violating Ebay rules and I never thought of it as being unfair to sellers. Truly. Sorry about that. I will discontinue that practice in the future.

Oh LORD!!! Seriously? I always authenticate after the sale because I usually just spontaneously see something and buy it! The times that I've submitted something here...the second it's authenticated.... I go back to buy it and it sold 2 seconds before I got there. I just always assumed people watch this thread then run and buy something they didn't actually have to do the work to check out! I'll be more careful as well...thanks Been Burned!

Hi gals! I'm back. Buying my first coach on ebay hasn't satiated me! I'm in love with my first bag and already doing rehab on it. <3
Anyway my mom also fell in love with my bag and wants me to help her purchase one. So before I go bidding, could I get authentication on these two? Thanks so much!

Seller: sophie12345-us

Comments: It has the same creed number as the one I bought, J8U-9870. So I'm kind of really interested in this one because it's my bag's sister :)

Item: COACH Convertible COURT Matte Red Satchel CROSSBODY Shoulder LEATHER HANDBAG

Comments: This one is absolutely beautiful...

Thanks in advance! :)
They both look fine. I have a red stewardess from the same plant made a few months later - the red is beautiful, not quite as orange as it looks in the pictures.

Yay whateve - thank you soooo much! I'm in love with the court bags if you hadn't noticed *blush* Thanks for doing this by the way. I hope I am not too much of a bother asking for authentications all the time!

No problem! You're welcome. I know what you mean about court bags! I just got a beautiful forest green one, even though I already have two gorgeous vintage bags in the same color.

Hi, I found this beautiful bag, and would like authentication please -
Title: MINT COACH Vintage 80's Madison Black Leather Spence Crossbody Messenger NAVY
Listing: 171052790216
Seller: suninpisces17

I haven't come across this style before, so unique. Thanks.

That is gorgeous! Looks authentic. I have never heard that about Grace Kelly - I don't know if that is true.

I've never seen any mention of a Grace Kelly inspiration for the Madison bags either. And obviously these styles aren't from the 1980s - they weren't introduced until late 1993. The Madison Spence in the photo was made in 1994. Princess Grace died in 1982.

It looks like the original listing has been removed so without photos there isn't much anyone can say to justify their original comments. However, I remember the "puffy" creed I mentioned, although I can't remember the creed wording. But here's one example of why the puffy creeds in US bags don't add up.

The first two photos are non-puffy creeds from the H plant, January and October 1996. If this was a new plant Coach would have given it one of the new-style creed stamps they started switching to in 1994, the "variations in the grain" style with the country of origin included in the second sentence of the creed. Both these H plant bags have the new-style stamp

The third is a questionable "puffy" creed supposedly from a month later than the first photo, February 1996, but it still has the old "scars, scratches..." wording and the Made In... at the bottom of the creed. I don't believe this is genuine and I've never seen proveably genuine middle-1990s bags with China-style puffy creeds. The very wide double border around the Coach logo at the top of the creed is also very unusual. The words are almost unreadable which is another red flag.

I am needing a professional opinion on this denim signature medium duffle- everything looks perfect, but the c's are off on the back and bottom- just a very well-done fake?
Thanks:)

Please wait for other opinions on this because I can't say for sure whether the bag is authentic or not. If fake, it's scary.

There are some styles where the patterns aren't centered on the back and there might be versions of this one where that exception might apply.

I found 2 other completed listings for the same style, both of which have centered patterns on the back. Yet, other than the difference in centering, I don't see anything that points to your bag being fake.

This listing has the identical date and plant codes so the creeds should be identical. Though it could be lighting or angle, the fonts look slightly different to me. ETA: Looking at the side by side pics, I'm not sure there are differences other than lighting glare.

Both the following listings show the signature pattern as being centered on the back of the bag:

This listing has the identical serial number:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Desig...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

This listing has different plant and month codes:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Desig...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

Again, other opinions are welcome!

Sorry, I don't have enough experience with the China bags and creeds to help. The differences in the two creeds BeenBurned showed might be due to the angle and lighting. We've seen a few other styles where the Cs on the back aren't centered but I can't say if this is one of them.

Hi, Hyacinth -

I remember it fairly well, since I was the one who asked. My daughter liked it & had asked me what I thought. I wasn't sure, so I asked here. It was a lunch box zip bag, and some things just seemed off to me. Among other things, it had an April 1995 date, with the new creed wording, and I just wasn't sure that was right.

You & whateve helped me decide that there was enough wrong with the bag to advise my daughter against buying it - and she didn't buy it.

Anyway, I was discussing something else with an eBay seller today, and she asked me to check a different discussion on that eBay forum. While I was there, I came across the posting I've mentioned here. I just didn't like the way the seller was trashing TPF, and I figured that if anybody wanted to respond to her, they should.

As always, I wholeheartedly appreciate everything you & all the others do here. TPF is just the best - I learn something new almost every day.

Thanks again.

ok thanks for the insight. I will certainly try to make them smaller. I am not sure how but I will play around with it. The only other thing I can say is when I uploaded them I got an error message about a security token, I couldn't find anything in the faqs about it so I was stumped. Thanks again for your help.

If all else fails, there's a great free image tweaking program I use called Irfanview that makes it easy to resize photos, I've used it for years. It's also perfect for photo collectors like me who like to change their Wallpaper every few days. :graucho:

I saw her post too. The seller insists that she bought the bag from Coach so no matter what evidence anyone puts to her she'll think we're calling her a liar. I've seen dozens of examples where a seller's memory about where and when they bought a certain bag or other item seems to be miles away from reality but who wants to stand up and tell them that their memories are seriously flawed?

Just wanted to point out that the spacing between the numbers is different as well. Every authentic H plant creed I've seen has extra space between the first 3 digits, the H is a little lower than the other digits, and the dash touches the H, like the H and dash were joined.

Exactly. And here are two 1995 H-plant creeds, the changeover to the new-style creed was made some time in 1995. The same serial number stamp was used straight through even though the creeds themselves were updated. And no "puffiness" on any of them.

I've never seen that tag before. I have the small Sophia made in the same plant in the same month, and the creed matches. The bag looks authentic. This bag was recently sold on the Factory Online Sale. It is possible they created this tag for that sale. Since there is no bullseye on the creed, it would alert the SAs that it was bought at a factory price if it were returned without a receipt. You could ask on the FOS discussion thread if anyone got the same tag with their purchase of this bag.

ETA: I forgot your original question. PH stands for parchment, but this bag is gray, right? It could be a tagging error.
Yeah, the tag gives me second thoughts - should be SV/EY, right? Thanks!
