For two bags of the identical style made in the same month, year and plant, would Coach use different patches/Olympic logos on the front of the bags?

And does anyone else think the "5" looks slightly off on the green one?

ETA: I think different colored bags had different front patches.

Here's a red one:

And another slightly different style but green with the same patch: http://www.cinciestatesales.com/photos/20121008/0026.jpg

And yellow:

I'm thinking the green one is authentic.

The different patches were representing different years, one for LA and one for Atlanta. The red one was for London.

I think they're all probably genuine.

These bags are plain weird. I bought a messenger style years ago and I thought how lucky I was. Thought it would be a Woo Hoo. Once I got it and felt it I thought who would think this POS is real? They are just yucky. They could be rolled into a ball and crammed into the corner of a piece of luggage for use later. I did look up my photos earlier because I have them in PB. The creed on the messenger was sharp. I think it just depends on the bag, how it was used, etc. I see no need for faking the POS that they are. I bet if you felt one you would wonder why Coach put their name on the crap.

Hello ladies & gentleman. This past weekend I found a bag at the coach store that
my wife loved, but it was damaged. Now I'm trying to find this bag in any way possible to buy it for her for Christmas. I found two ebay links. Please, I will greatly appreciate it if anyone can help me authenticate this bag.

Thank you for telling me that! I had no idea! Is brass plated the normal for high end purses? Because probably most of the coach purses are brass plated... It is weird because the hardware on the other side is in perfect shape so I wonder what happened there?! Will Brasso take some of the stuff off? If the turn lock still works should I leave it? That is to bad about the turn locks! Coach is getting stricter and stricter about what they will send out! I have not tried calling them about getting turn locks but I have had trouble with getting replacement hang tags! A month or two ago I ordered with no problem. Now a week ago I called three times (hanging up the first two times) because they would not help me and then the 3rd time the lady was niceish and would only let me order 3. I think now I am just going to go to the stores and get their help. I wonder if the stores would help you to with the turn locks! Coach should provide them and part of their "enduring quality" pitch! Good luck lye us know when you get them! I am waiting for them to send me my bag I sent in, it has been over a month and getting a little worried. I wonder if they are just slow in shipping stuff
I don't think Coach was ever considered high end. In the 60's and on the Bonnie Cashin bags, they mostly used brass plating and the leather used was not as nice as on later bags. In the 70's and possibly early 80's, they used solid brass. A lot of those bags have very minimal hardware like tiny buckles, probably to keep the weight down, and the hardware isn't marked "solid brass". I had a bag from the mid 70's that had large brass buckles and they were extremely heavy. Dooney and Bourke used solid brass through the nineties - I don't know when they stopped. I was a little surprised when I learned this - in some ways, the D & Bs from the nineties were nicer than Coaches. In my collection, I don't believe that any of the Coaches with a serial number, which would be anything made from the late 70s on, has solid brass hardware.

I think Brasso might help but I think you are still going to see that texture of chipping.

I have one turnlock that is very loose. I figure it will break soon so I intend to replace it. I don't know if there is a way to repair it rather than replace it. The stores won't help you with turnlocks. I asked at both FP and factory stores and the SAs weren't even aware if JAX provided turnlocks. If I don't get the turnlocks, I'll probably try to send one of mine in for repair since it needs some stitching as well. I'd attempt the stitching on my own but if they aren't going to send me the turnlock, I might as well have them do both things.

There is a limit on how many hangtags you can ask for. If you've already gotten a few, they might feel you are abusing the system. They don't mind providing hangtags when they think you originally bought the bag from them, especially if you give them the impression that you are still spending money with them. A lot of resellers ask for a bunch of hangtags and they don't want to encourage that. If you ask for hangtags at a store, they don't keep track of how many you get so IMO that is a better way to go.

It can take about 6 weeks to get back a bag you sent in for repair.

Maybe she can look closer at the creed IRL to see if those are really Ns.

I am not even sure that matters. The leather is so thin, almost vinyl-like and I think they may have gotten messed up during stamping. Not that I am 100% sure but that's my thought. Just as a comparison, normally my Metropolitans weigh 4-5 pounds boxed and this style messenger weighs 2-3 pounds stuffed and boxed.

This is my own listing, and I know that authenticators don't have to comment on our own personal listings, but I had a buyer claim my bag is not authenticate, so I was looking for some reassurance. Any help is appreciated!! Thanks!! Jen

It looks fine to me. Your buyer is misinformed. If you do a search on ebay of the style number, there are several identical bags. In the future, don't post a link to your listing - just post the photos.

I apologize for being so persistent, but can anyone help me authenticate this bag? This is a gift for my wife that I know she will love. Please help!!

I'm sorry I didn't answer before but this isn't my area of expertise. I don't see any problems with this bag or the seller.
