Vintage Dark BroWn Leather LaRge COACH Tote Bag BOHO Purse Distressed XL !!!
Seller: de*vintage*villa
Item no: 290927696403
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Dar...te-Bag-BOHO-Purse-Distressed-XL-/290927696403

Comment: Straps seem too long, the outside zipper does not have a stop , the font on the creed seems off and I am not sure about the G plant code.

Added:

Looking through completed listing for this bag, here is another "G" plant code, same issues: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-VINTA...9819-MADE-IN-USA-GOOD-CONDITION-/400486043142

Based on the creed, I have serious doubts about this sold bag: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-XL-Vi...per-Tote-Laptop-Diaper-Bag-9819-/390598416711

This bag appears to be authentic, though the seller doesn't show a photo of the creed: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...lder-Tote-Shopper-Handbag-Purse-/151044989354

There's always a problem trying to figure out if some of the mistakes we see are because the bag is fake or because Coach changed some specs and production methods along the way. And when there aren't any really obvious problems among a couple of bags with slightly different details, how do you say which is real and which isn't?

Straps for instance. We know Coach changed the strap lengths on some bags during production, like the Court Bag. And I own an NYC Rambler Bag that the catalogs list as having a 43-inch strap but the strap on mine is 48 inches so it may be a very early one and the strap was shorter on later versions.

The G code is a valid plant. The bags it's been used in have different prefixes where most fakes tend to use the same prefix over and over. The serial stamp was apparently changed some time in 1998 since the spacing of the digits changed. The only serial that I'm worried about in the ones you mentioned is the sold one with "BIN-" since I've seen that in some questionable bags. Remember, back then creed stamps and serial number stamps were separate units - the creed stamp in the first bag looks the same as several photos I have of other bags with G plant codes, only the number stamp is different and those were probably changed as needed during a bag's production run, or larger plants may have had more than one serial number stamp. The picture below is what seems to be a genuine creed.

So even though there are some concerns about the bags you mentioned, none of them are strong enough to prove they're fake. They might be enough to call them Questionable but that's all I'm comfortable with.

Please help me authenticate this Coach Legacy Perforated Medium Candace Carryall. I just bought it from a seller on Amazon called Deal of a Lifetime, and although it smells and feels real, I haven't been able to get a good read on it. I have looked at various articles, and most have to do with the signature bags, not the all-leather ones.

This is great Hyacinth - thank you for the time you took to respond and for the additional information. It is very helpful for me when you walk though the analysis.

Cheers! :drinks:

Hi,
This bag sold recently and I'm wondering if it is authentic.
Would someone mind taking a look for me?

I'm really not sure. There are only 3 bags currently listed with a 2002 G plant creed. The 2 USA creed are very different styles, and one Signature bag is an obvious fake. I'll look for more later but I'd be careful with all of them.

ETA - One - CORRECTION - TWO - Completed Sig fabric bags, one doesn't show a full creed but it's also fake since the creed has the all-leather wording, and the other Sig Optic has fake fabric and wasn't even made in 2002. It's not looking good for any of them being genuine. The 9151 Duffle Sac looks ok but the G plant code is making me wonder.

Rather than drowning this page in photos, I'll post the links, save the photos if you're interested:

May I ask how you're doing the search to narrow down the 2002 and the G plant?
