Hello Ladies,

Can you please authenticate this wallet for me. Great Appreciated :)
Thank you in advance.

Item: Coach Ashley Lace Leather Slim Envelope
Item No: 161148239220

I think it's okay but other opinions are welcome.

Note that the seller's statement of $350 original price is overinflated. The suggested retail on this wallet is $238 and even at that, it never sold for that price. It's a MFF (made for factory) wallet and outlet prices are probably 1/2 "retail."

Hi, all! I purchased this Coach Slim Duffel 9188, and now have my doubts that it is genuine. Wondering what all your wise eyes will see! Thanks so much for your know-how. Really appreciate it. The badge reads, "No. H3B-9188." It also says that it was made in the US, so that correlates with the, 'B,' I believe. Thank you.

I'm sorry, the creed is so badly blurred that it's impossible to authenticate just from that, but there's a fake piece of hardware used ONLY by counterfeiters somewhere else on the bag. The bag is fake. Since you're the "winning" bidder, contact the seller and insist on a refund. Also open a dispute or SNAD claim with Ebay, you have only a short time left to file so don't wait for the seller to hem and haw about issuing a refund!

But please take a large clear photo of the creed patch and also of the entire top zipper including all of the clip that attaches the leather zipper pull to the zipper pull ring, and post it here so I can save it for my records.

The B plant code also doesn't check out, which is another reason we always need to see a large readable photo of the creed and we never recommend that anyone buy a Coach bag without that photo. I recall that the B plant in the US had been closed several years before 2003. Just knowing the location of the plant doesn't prove something's authentic - knowing the time when that plant was actually in production can be critically important, such as in this case.

The wrinkled leather strip around the top of the bag is also a red flag. I'm wondering if the blurring of the creed patch was deliberate.

And I'm just going by memory, but that bag was made only at the China plant, it was released after the China plants had been running for at least a year and probably should have had a C pattern lining like the other leather China-made leather duffles. Check out the others listed on Ebay.

Thank you, Hyacinth. I had a feeling. Thanks so much for the information. I am going to send this back. I will take plenty of photos first, though, and post them for your records. Thanks again.

Hullo everyone,

Comments:
I was outbid on this bag on ebay. I didn't bid high because I was unsure
of whether it was authentic -- I haven't seen a black chelsea flagship tote anywhere.
But if it is authentic, I'll be on the look out for another.

Thanks for your help!

I'm not an expert on newer styles and can't comment on authenticity. But you can't really base an opinion just on color, except for extreme cases. Not only does Coach sometimes made special colors that are only available to their retail department store partners like Macy's in the US or to their own flagship stores, but it's also very possible that they made colors that were unique to the London boutique.

The regular posters over at the main Coach forum here would probably have a better idea of what colors might have been available. You could ask there if anyone has ever seen that style in black, but for authenticity questions they'll probably refer you back here, and you may have to wait a while longer for an answer since we're a bit short-handed this week.

I believe that the bag in the listing is incorrectly described as 17784. I think it's 17786.

I don't see any 17786 (or 17784) in black, but as pointed out, you can't depend on the color as an authenticating factor.

From what I see, 17784 is slightly larger than 17786.

I don't see any obvious problems with the bag in the listing but I am not familiar with the actual style.

Let's try this again! What do you all think of this listing for the same model of Coach bag, the slim duffle 9188. I suspect this may also be FAKE because of the low price and lack of bids. Again, thank you all very much for your insights.

This bag looks good.

You can't judge authenticity solely on price or number of bids. Some sellers have great success with low starting prices when they hope to encourage bidding wars. But many buyers either prefer BIN and/or fixed price listings or they wait till the end of the listing to try to snipe.
