Can someone authenticate this bag for me? It is on ebay, the seller is 5261eddot, the link is http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Coa...236?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item2c76274984
and the item number is 190960847236
Thanks

Sorry, I don't think it's genuine.

The serial number prefix J8H- is often found in fake bags, the font of the number isn't correct, there are stitching and construction details on the bag that are wrong, and although it's hard to tell in those photos but the strap grommets look like they're silver-colored instead of brass-colored to match the rest of the hardware.

Please help with authentication. Unknown style name
Bag 1.
Serial number is L4C-4127
Bag 2. gives me concern...I can't tell if it is missing a number or just a fake stamp. What I can see is 9Z-9145

Style 4127 looks like a genuine Museum Bag from the early 1990s Manhattan Collection.

Style 9145 is a genuine Legacy Medium Studio Flap. Either the plant simply made a mistake in the stamping, or it was so lightly stamped that the first digit has worn away over the years.

Oh boy, I am having a dispute with a seller that I bought a group of bags from.
One of them is a fake and she is insisting it is real, although I gave her a gazillion reasons why it is NOT. Below is the auction listing and I am also attaching my own photos because hers did not show details. Please help me to prove to her that it is bogus.

Listing # 121190978263
SEller: pardon64
Link:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=121190978263&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:US:1123

PS - (In one photo I compared her lining with a real Coach lining, and the last two pics are of a real #6363 creed and what the end should look like, no rivet and just stitching)

PPS - Note: SHeesh, the creed even reads "made of glove tanned leather...etc" and it is canvas. LOL

Not only does the creed have text indicating a leather bag but the date indicates that the bag was made in 1994. That's 6 years before Coach even made signature bags and about 8 years before they made the style, 6363.

There's nothing right about the bag and the seller didn't do her required authenticating before listing it.

If necessary, refer the seller, pardon64 here. She is wrong and owes you a refund for having sold a fake.

ETA: Clearly, the seller isn't as knowledgeable in authenticating Coach as she thinks she is. This is a listing that was ended early, presumably because someone told the seller it's fake.

BeenBurned doesn't need any back-up opinions but since a sold item is involved, I'll add mine anyway. I agree completely with BeenBurned's comments - that bag is a VERY bad fake for all the reasons she listed, along with the really BAD stitching and general quality of the bag.

That seller pardon64 shound NEVER depend on her own opinions about authenticity because any experienced Coach seller (with a few exceptions I won't mention since we've already mentioned them too much recently) would have been able to spot that the purse is fake. Just reading the "genuine cowhide leather" creed statement should have told her it was counterfeit.

Thank you both. I knew it was fake but she is insisting so I needed some really good backup~
thanks once again!!

Also I found another of her listings that I told her fake was AFTER I had made her a best offer on the group listing, and she removed it. Now she is telling me she had it "checked out" and it was not fake.

HMMM....I can't find the closed listing anymore to link it- but I had written down the auction number earlier. Probably someone reported it.

If you're the winning bidder, please hold off paying for the bag until Hyacinth or Whateve responds. I don't believe it's authentic but they should confirm.
Thanks Beenburned, I wasn't sure about the authenticity and someone else bought it while I was waiting on a reply. I thought the creed looked wrong. I'm always thankful for the help of you lovely ladies at the purse forum.

I "almost" bought it myself! But I checked the fake serial number list and found
the prefix too shady - did not want to take a chance..lol.

You're welcome. And in case you missed it, Hyacinth also confirmed that it was fake.

Yup, that fake soho (wannabe) patchwork bag was removed after having been reported. (I posted my ETA link to the listing in the post where I replied to yours and lurkers who read often report.)

Have you referred the seller here? I don't know where she's "checking out" authenticity of her items but she'd better find a new authenticator or her ebay account will be severely dinged, she'll be limited or prohibited from selling designer items and if her infractions continue, her account will be at risk.

Did you report the lot listing you won? That one is reportable since there's a fake in the lot.

Just got the pm.... for all. ..this bag is very much authentic and very beautiful as a side note :)

For information on the older creeds and stamps you can use my guide. I collaborated with Coach and others and it's been verified as accurate.

I read this the other day. It's terrific. Made me kick myself for missing out on some bags in the past because I didn't know what I was looking at. Got a thumbs up from me and will become something I keep going back to. Thanks Debi.
