This seller had a couple of fake Coaches removed last night.

In looking through her other items, I found this listing and I'm wondering about the strange looking creed.

Title: VINTAGE COACH 9170 BLACK LEGACY FLAP ORIGINAL HANDBAG LONG STRAP A+++++
Item number: 200981796965
Seller: sophie66
Link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200981796965

All the fonts of the creed and serial are wrong, and the number is L4C-9956, one of the oldest numbers on the Fakes List.

I have two "vintage" Coach satchels, I believe they are the same style. One I have bid on, the other I want to buy if the outcome is good!

This one ^^ I am concerned with because of the creed is faded. The seller has told me that the #'s on the creed are what is rubbed flat? (if you will) So, my posting would rely on structure and looks alone, sadly.

^^ this one is in bad shape. The seller claims Coach Co. deemed it genuine. I assume they know a Coach employee ? Or ? Anyway, Just safe rather than sorry.

And as always Good Evening Ladies, I adore all of your expertise and enjoy your education. Grazie!

P.S. and while you read this , I am reading more on Salearea's Guide about creed's and what knots! ;)

I think the bag is fine. The plant made an error by transposing the year and month codes. I've seen this same error by the same plant during the same month on authentic bags. Everything else on the bag looks genuine. Other opinions are welcome.

ETA: I forgot to mention that the listing is wrong in claiming it is from 1992. It was made in 1995.

Thank you! I appreciate the information and your time!

They both look good. Sometimes the creeds do become unreadable with age. I wonder if it says "Made in the United States" or "Made in New York City, USA". The second one is missing the strap. I wouldn't pay any attention to whether or not Coach Co. deemed it genuine. The company doesn't authenticate and employees aren't trained to do so.

As always, I certainly do appreciate your wisdom. Is there somewhere I can donate some $$ or brag about you ladies somewhere? Thanks very much! :happydance:

Yes, I have read about Coach Co. stating if a item was genuine or not. I actually chuckled when they stated it was deemed as such. :amuse:

Thanks. I wanted to confirm before reporting.

You're welcome! You can certainly brag about us! :blushing:

Please refer to post #1 of the thread for future inquiries. We need more information including seller IDs when authenticating items. (My comment on seller #1 will help show why we request more than just the link.)

1. I don't recommend seller #1, textbooks78. The seller appears to "borrow" pictures (in this listing as well as some other listings) and doesn't do her own work. The first 3 pictures as well as the creed picture are much better quality than picture 4 and I don't believe those pictures are the actual item.

Because Sabrinas as highly faked and some are well faked, I don't recommend a seller who doesn't show the actual item. THere's no way to determine if the bag you receive will be authentic.

2., 3., 4., The other listings look good.

Hello can I get this authenticated please. I found it at a local thrift store. I think it is a coah mini watson serial d6d-9981.

The purse is about 7.5 inch across an 7 inch deep

It has a small hole where the store punched it >< think it might shrink with conditioner?

Thank you!

Thank you for your fast response! I'm sorry I will follow the rules from now on. However, I did read the posting on the first page, but i'm still a little confused. So what should I include in the post? Should I link the seller ID page or just mention the seller ID?

Thank you!

You're welcome.

For posting, this is the info we need:

Item:
Listing number:
Seller:
Link:
Comments:

And in post #1, there are further instructions if an item isn't listed in an online site.

The reason we like to have seller IDs and listing item numbers is because both are searchable here. We can search most seller IDs and find whether their listings have been posted before, whether they're habitual fake-sellers or if they have a good reputation. Item numbers are helpful because sometimes a link doesn't work and we can paste the item number into the search box on ebay.
