I'm not sure about the City Bag either. The only comparison I have from the G plant is a 1998 bag, and there are a few small differences in the serial number.

The Stewardess seems ok, but more opinions are welcome for both.

Can you post your G plant creed so I can add it to my files? Thanks.

Here ya go...

Whateve, I saw in one of your posts from last night about the last part about withstanding water and dirt being on your fake creed list. Is that for all plants? I don't want to mess with someone's livelihood if I'm not 100% sure.

TIA
No, I don't believe the wording is invalid on the proper item. I think the counterfeiters copied a real creed but put it on an all leather bag, while obviously this creed refers to a fabric bag. Thanks for posting this. This is the bag that should have this creed. The bag is authentic.

I actually have several 80s bags or at least they say "new" in the 80s catalogs that I have. I'll post pics if you like... can't think of any in the 90s now that you mention it though
Let me clarify. Some of the bags I have from the 80's I believe may have solid brass hardware but the buckles are too small to have the "solid brass" imprinting. I figured that the weight and maybe the cost were the reasons Coach decided to use small buckles on these bags. My courier pouch that is pre-creed has solid brass buckles but the one with a NYC creed doesn't. I washed my skinny tote that has a glued in serial number with TSP (don't ask!) and the kisslock turned silver, leading me to believe it was just brass plated.

Ohhhhh.... :)

I haven't seen any solid brass kiss locks but the VERY old ones that I still question were before Cashin or at the very least before she officially came on board

In my opinion, any buckle that says "solid brass" on anything later than the early 80's indicates that bag is fake. I've never even seen it on any 80's bags, only 70's, and you can tell it is solid brass because they are really heavy.

I don't have access to the bag right now but I have one early Stewardess that has "Solid Brass" on the buckle. I don't have any concerns about the bag. If I have time, I will go see if I can find it. [Deleted discussion of molded vs. etched, I looked through a couple of boxes of my older bags and found four that have "Solid Brass" - didn't run across the Stewardess that I was thinking of but found a different one.]

I'll see if I can dig it out and post it for authentication here.

Thanks for posting. I've never seen the "Solid Brass USA" before. It seems like that wording was used on the later NYC bags, probably up until they stopped using solid brass. Since my NYC courier pouch with a creed doesn't have it, I would suspect that they stopped using solid brass around the time it was made, I'm guessing sometime in the early 80's. My pre-serial number courier pouch's stamping looks just like your stewardess. At any rate, I'm 99% sure any bag with a 90's creed that has the solid brass imprinting is fake.

P.S. I love your signature!
