Please be patient! These 3 messages were posted all within a 20 minute period with the first two posts within 3 minutes of each other.

Keep in mind that we volunteer our experience and expertise and come to authenticate as time, jobs, family and other personal obligations allow. Sometimes someone who knows the item will respond quickly; other times it might be several hours.

Evidently no one who can authenticate your bag is around at the moment.
I am sorry; it wasn't impatience. I kept losing the description before I was finished. So once I got it all together I sent it without asking if someone could authenticate it. Didn't want to leave it that way. Just wanted the description and the request all in one place to make it easier for the reader.

No problem.

The bag you asked about isn't one that I feel comfortable authenticating. Please wait for someone more familiar with the classics.

They all look fine to me.

Hello Ladies,

I really admire the work you all are doing here. My wife is a big Coach fan and she recently got me thinking about a new briefcase/computer bag. She picked out several from around the web, they were nice but not really what I had in mind. When I told her I really wanted something leather and classic, her eyes lit up as she suggested we go look at the Coach website. I really liked many of the Coach offerings but cringed at the price. $598 for a Bleeker I think would give me a heart attack :faint:. I then started looking at ebay, was scared of fakes and as I was trying to authenticate several I liked, I ran across Hyacinths' Coach Serial Number Basic Facts article that ebay has up. The article was a big help but I am still a bit reluctant to buy any of these bags based solely on my own novice/amateur opinion I was wondering if you all might help me authenticate some of these briefcases? I think they are authentic but I would really appreciate it if any of you would lend your expertise to the matter.

1.This one is odd because it is British tan and has pewter/nickel hardware, which I was not able to find anywhere else on the internet.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/190879015673?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

2.This one the stamp of the serial number is in a different font than any of the others I have seen.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/271249554068?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649

3.This one is my favorite and is also listed on Etsy $20 cheaper.

here is the etsy listing for the same bag:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/1582725...ry&ga_ship_to=XX&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=all

4.This one was odd because the serial number seemed strange H7S-0544, August of '97 but couldn't find a factory that corresponded to S and couldn't find a style code for 0544.

5.Lastly I am pretty certain that this bag is authentic but would appreciate your taking a look.

I know this is a lot to ask, especially in my first post but I would truly appreciate any help you could give me in my search for an authentic vintage Coach briefcase. :flowers:

1- genuine, made in China in 2003. Silver-tone hardware was available on some bags in the last 15 years

2- looks genuine, the first one I've seen from Italy and made in 1994. The font is correct for that particular plant

3- genuine, from China, 2002

4- a very early one from China, 1997. I'm not comfortable that the seller's Ebay photos can't be enlarged to show details. Sometimes that means that the photos have been "borrowed" from another site. I don't have any information on that style, and please note the seller's measurements are 14x12 inches. If it's actually only 14 inches wide it's smaller than a standard briefcase. I found one Completed listing that gives the same measurements so there's a good chance that they're accurate:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-0544-...D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

EDITED TO ADD - Found the name, it's called a Compact Organizer Brief and it IS smaller than the standard size.

5- genuine Lexington Brief from 1996, made in the US

Noshoepolish might have more information. She's an expert on briefcases and may be able to suggest some possible problems to watch out for or to ask the seller about.

"Vintage" is usually considered 20 years old or more so technically none of these are really "vintage" although the ones from the US and Italy are closest.
