Can someone please authenticate this Coach Leatherware bag?
Found it at Goodwill today.
Approx. 13"w at top x 10"h x 3"d Strap drop 19"
Some of the details like the strap around the bottom, the lined flap, the way the flap connects to the bag and the magnetic snap remind me of a Town Bag (Lightweights line) I have. Is this a "big sister"? or cousin"?
Also I would guess the color is Blue (from the Lightweights color tags). Any idea what year?
As always, Thanks in advance for any and all info!

It's a Paris Bag Large 4105 from the Lightweights line from around 1989 - 1990.

1- genuine, made in China in 2003. Silver-tone hardware was available on some bags in the last 15 years

2- looks genuine, the first one I've seen from Italy and made in 1994. The font is correct for that particular plant

3- genuine, from China, 2002

4- a very early one from China, 1997. I'm not comfortable that the seller's Ebay photos can't be enlarged to show details. Sometimes that means that the photos have been "borrowed" from another site. I don't have any information on that style, and please note the seller's measurements are 14x12 inches. If it's actually only 14 inches wide it's smaller than a standard briefcase. I found one Completed listing that gives the same measurements so there's a good chance that they're accurate:

EDITED TO ADD - Found the name, it's called a Compact Organizer Brief and it IS smaller than the standard size.

5- genuine Lexington Brief from 1996, made in the US

Noshoepolish might have more information. She's an expert on briefcases and may be able to suggest some possible problems to watch out for or to ask the seller about.

"Vintage" is usually considered 20 years old or more so technically none of these are really "vintage" although the ones from the US and Italy are closest.

I can't thank you enough for taking the time to authenticate these for me. :hbeat: It makes me feel so much better about buying a bag second hand.

I think I am going to purchase #1 and #3.

Before I do I would love to know out of these five which one you would purchase? Are any of these more valuable than the others because of the style or where it was made?

Again, thank you so much! :yahoo:

Don't know if this is just a question for the authenticators or anyone on TPF but my choices would be the 2 from the US. I love the older purses for their construction, lovely thick leather and they truly stand the test of time. They are true classics.

Hi, all, could someone take a look at this listing? Is this a Willis? It seems like a good size. Don't know if it's just my imagination but it looks a little wonky in pic #2 (rear shot). Thanks.

I think it may be ok, but the creed is slightly different than what I have on file. There's just enough of a difference that I'd keep on looking. There are always plenty of Willis Bags to choose from.

Sorry, I meant the ones from the US and Italy.:smile1:

My own preferences would be the same. I only have 2 Coach briefcases but have a ton of handbags, and my personal preferences will always be the ones from the US, Italy and Costa Rica in that order. Not only are they from the pre-China days but they're what many of us consider classic Coach, and probably the best quality among the dozen or so countries where Coach has produced handbags and briefcases.

But you have to buy what works best for you.

Thanks for the input, I will take that into consideration. I was thinking that bags made in the US would have better resale value if I ever decided sell it in the future. Thanks, Fuzzymummy :smile1:

Thank you so much. I will take this advice into consideration when purchasing a briefcase for sure! :smile1: I really appreciate everyone's help with my search for a briefcase, you all have been so nice and helpful

Thank you all.

Genuine. I don't have an exact name for that one, but style 6468 which looks just like it but is smooth leather was called a Soho Leather Business Tote, so Soho Suede Business Tote seems to be a logical guess. The color might be Flint.
