Can you help authenticate this bag:

Coach 9060 in mahoghany
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/111098626256?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
The creed again is off-center and very hard to read with the serial number JHM-9060, made in the "___ States"

Some differences with the other 9060 I posted (in camel):
- the strap is narrower, 1 inch instead of 1.25 inches
- the leather is not as thick, but still reasonable quality
- the stitching is fairly even except for on the zipper pull (which does not say Coach on it)

I cannot yet post my own photos.
Thanks again for the help.

Where are you seeing the creed? If you can't link to your own photo files, then please use a free service like Photobucket and post the URL of the page with the photo here in your post. There's no way to really authenticate a bag without a creed photo especially since the serial number you posted is an invalid number if that's what the digits actually are.

First for me... had an item reported as counterfeit. I know that this is the pocket organizer #7825, but apparently someone else thinks it's fake. Please look at this and let me know your thoughts and I'd also appreciate any advice that you may offer as to what to do when this happens. It's approx. 4x6 TIA

Thank you, Hyacinth. Just opened an account with photobucket, please bear with me while I figure out how to do this (don't make me walk the plank...!)

This photo shows the "JHM-9060" which I thought was suspicious (usually the serial number seems to be letter-number-letter).

I did get my money back from the seller. I just want to make sure this is not authentic. I then have to ship the bag back to the seller, unless someone has different advice.

I don't see any problems with it.

Do you have a general idea as to the year it was made? If I can find it in one of my scanned catalogs I can post the photo. It's a longshot but worth a try.

ETA - never mind, I found it. Give me a few minutes to get a photo posted.
It doesn't show a lot of details but it's the only useable pic I could find, from the 1993 Fall Preview catalog:

It's not authentic. JHM- would never have been used as a serial prefix by Coach The middle digit of a 3-digit prefix should be a number, since it stands for the year the item was made. While a few mistakes were made and sometimes 2 digits could be flipped, there would always have to be at least one number in that three-digit prefix in all bags from 1994 or newer.

The quality of the zipper pull is also pretty bad, the stitching on the leather pull is a mess. (Coach zipper pulls almost NEVER say "Coach" BTW, only on some recent styles like Poppys and a few others) And don't worry, we've converted the plank to a diving board for the summer.

Thank you again Hyacinth for that. You confirmed my suspicions.

What to do with a fake? Send it back to the seller, destroy it...?

Contact the seller and ask for your money back. If the seller wants it back, tell her she has to pay the shipping cost. Most of the time the seller will want you to ship it back. If she doesn't, then you can destroy it, but make sure you get your money back first.

I don't know either. They might know on the ebay forum. Personally, I would call ebay and explain that they removed it in error. Even if they don't like tpf authentications, you have a picture of the catalog page proving it is authentic. I don't see how they can argue with that.

Thank you Whateve. I did get my money back from paypal disputes. They closed the claim but I called them today and told them to message the seller to pay for return shipping costs if they want the bag back. I didn't think it was fair that I had to pay that if it was not real.
The help on this forum is amazing! Thank you all again.

When Paypal refunded your money as a result of the dispute, did they say you had to return the bag? If you already got your money back, I don't think you have any obligation to return the bag. Technically, it is illegal to ship counterfeits.

Some of us on the forum would save the leather to use for repair projects but destroy the fake creed patch.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to coach handbags (all i own is a bangle) and hailing from Australia we see very few coach vintage pieces anyway, I was browsing through an Ebay Japanese consignment store and found this bag I liked it bought it THEN I did my research after I purchased it :( naive me.

I believe it's a Madison Copley (looking at previous posts), but then I'm not sure and I think circa 1994 from deciphering the creed. Can you girls please help me confirm it's authenticity and perhaps model, colour etc....

Very much appreciated (sorry I'm also new to TPF and this will be my first post...so apologies if the format is not correct)
