Hi ladies:

I just received this purchase today and have serious concerns about its authenticity. If you could please give me your thoughts I will take them back to the seller.

VINTAGE COACH SHOULDER HANDBAG LEATHER BLACK UNITED STATE

Seller: mariaburda2011
Item: 390595303020
http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-COACH-SHOULDER-HANDBAG-LEATHER-BLACK-UNITED-STATE-/390595303020

Comments: The serial number starts with J4K, I am not sure there was a K plant in 1994. Comparing the bag to another Rambler's Legacy (a 1999 bag), the strap is longer than the 1999 Rambler's Legacy. The area where the tongue of the buckle attaches is very sloppy and has some kind of weird leather. The buckles are marked "SOLID BRASS." The bag has elephant leather in some areas. Areas inside the bag are undyed and the zipper inside is too short and installed off center. There is a spot where the stiching runs off the leather. In the photos comparing bag, it is easy to tell which is the authentic bag and which is the bag I received today. (About half the grommets on the strap are silver or fading, which in my experience is good reason to look closely at the bag.)

Thank you in advance.
I have three Rambler's Legacys: 2001 D plant, 1999 and 1998 C plant. The backs of the grommets attaching the buckles on all three have the indentation like on your authentic bag. In the Fall 1998 catalog, the Rambler's Legacy was listed as new. I don't think they made them in 1994. I have only seen the "solid brass" buckles on pre-creed bags, although I have seen them on several fakes. If they aren't really heavy, they aren't really solid brass. Elephant leather is another indication of it being fake. The stitching is very sloppy. I feel confident that it isn't authentic.

The 9061 Rambler's Legacy wasn't introduced until late 1998 so the J4K- prefix with a 1994 year code means it's fake. All the other incorrect details corroborate that. The bag with that serial number is an obvious fake and you're welcome to refer the seller AND Ebay to this post as verification.

I know this bag is fake so i'm hoping that having an expert agree with me will help me prove that.

Thank you so very much for your time.

To back up what BeenBurned posted, if you need it - that cheap shiny mini-C lining is always fake and was never used by Coach. The "Coach" on the turnlock is wrong, the inside zipper pull is wrong, the creed patch is badly cut and sewn, and the serial number is fake.

thanks in advance....this one measures 10.5 L X 4D X 10H ...is it called a Bleeker tote?

I think it's a Slim Zip style 4018 from the Lightweight line, made around 1990.
