Hi again Hyacinth - I got a reply from the seller and she posted additional pictures of creed plate. It is hard to see the serial number but it looks like 11341? I checked online and there is a model like that but it seems to have a shoulder strap as well not just one strap...Please would you take a look and tell me your thoughts on it being authentic and also if a strap is missing? Thank you so much!!

The seller says in the listing that she lost the long strap. It looks genuine and I've posted Coach's photo below but if you need the longer strap you may want to keep looking. It was called a Leah Coated Canvas Convertible Shoulder Bag.

Last one :) Please authenticate:
Item: Coach Navy Blue purse
Purchased on ebay
Measurements: 8" tall, 9.5" wide at widest point, 3" deep
Comments: No serial number and creed patch is awfully close to the stitching and slightly crooked

Forgot to take a picture of the back of the purse, it's plain, no slip pocket.
Thank you!

It looks like some kind of early Hippie Flap style but if DemRam comes by I hope she'll take a look. Seems ok to me though.

I agree with Hyacinth that it's probably an early Hippie "something or other" and made in the later 70's - early 80's.

I actually thought I had a photo of that bag, but I can't find it anywhere in my messy photo files.

It looks fine (authentic) and it appears to have the lighter, more delicate hardware that I've seen on the earlier bags. Very different hardware than the ones Coach used later on - like the heavy thick brass on many 1990's bags.

I also think the creed looks fine.

:smile1:

I bought this at the Goodwill for 10 dollars and am curious if it's genuine and if it is, what anyone might know about it. Thanks!
The serial number picture didn't come out as well as I'd like. It says
no. 455-6018.
Dimensions are approximately: height 10in, Width 9 in, Depth 5 in.
Thank you so much!

It seems ok, Courier Pouch from the early to mid 1980s, and a nice vintage bag. Style number was 8920.

Thank you DemRam, and thanks again to Hyacinth. I am considering selling the bag on ebay (if I can bear to part with it!), and I do not want to give any false or misleading information. Other crescent bags I have seen for sale do include the creed and a serial number, so I realize those are probably from the later 70s, etc. My conclusion is thus: my particular bag is surely a Cashin DESIGN (because of that design's 1964 release), but it cannot be known for sure whether it was actually made during her time at Coach. If I am wrong, please correct me. Otherwise, I thank you both again for your information and promise not to ask anymore questions! :smile1:

That sounds accurate to me - and thanks for taking the time to make sure you've described the bag as accurately as possible! Too many sellers just throw around Bonnie Cashin's name on anything that's more than 10 years old and it's really unfair to buyers who don't know how to research her history.

I agree with Hyacinth. The information you have allows you to legitimately list it as "Bonnie Cashin for Coach Crescent Bag".

Keep asking questions. We learn from each other, especially about the Cashin/Coach era. I have SO much conflicting information in my head about the marks used during that time, that I don't know what to believe!

(I have a bag I thought was 100% Cashin Coach with the striped lining she used and a "mark" that I had only seen on her bags. I had it authenticated at the Cashin Foundation - it wasn't designed by her, and was made "using up" fabric that was left over shortly after she left)!

Love your bag!

Thank you, Hyacinth! I did ask the seller about the strap and she then added it to the listing :smile1: I will keep looking, really want the bag the way it should be not with missing strap. AMAZING knowledge you about Coach bags...unbelievable...and great source for many of us on the forum.

Hi Gals! I picked this purse up at a consignment shop, and I'm pretty confident that it's real, but I want to double check here. Pics were taken by me.

Thanks!

Coach stitching isn't always perfect. I don't see any problems with it.
Thank you very much!

BTW, when you have a lot of large photos to post, it may be easier to just use a free Photobucket account and upload the pics to a public album, then post the album link here. It's a little easier on the forum's bandwidth.
I will be sure to do this in the future.

Thank you to both of you, Hyacinth and DemRam! I really appreciate your time. Thank you also Hyacinth for pointing me to the guide on the bag made in Italy. I think I need to print these all out and make a binder! It is so much to take in and remember :)
