I purchased this pre-loved Coach today. Could you tell me if it authentic? Thanks

It was hard to make out the numbers. I think they are...D6B 9085, I can't tell.

Yes, it looks like an authentic Duffle Sac.

My g/f purchased a Coach Field briefcase for me on ebay and it arrived, today. The leather look is of decent quality but it certainly doesn't look like it is 25 years old as the seller has claimed. There are just some inconsistencies that I see that I can't get past. I have tons of pictures and if it was just one thing that I thought was off, I'd let it go but it's a lot. I have located a bullseye on the tag which I know indicates that it is a factory bag but I still can't imagine Coach letting this bag walk out the door, so to speak. I have a black vintage cross body in the same style and it has brass eyelets which are consistent with genuine Coach bags and I've not ever seen such poor stamping on a serial number and although I haven't found evidence to the contrary it seems strange that the seams on the bottom of the bag are so far off from one another. I hope that I am just being paranoid but something just doesn't seem right. I'd rather be wrong and apologize than walk around carrying a Foach. I hope the attachment below will work. Thanks!

It's a Casey Bag, style 9923, from around 1993.

Hyacinth, I am struggling to restore the blue color on this casey bag. It has gotten brighter and bluer with cleaning but it is still very uneven and I am trying to figure out if it is dirty or faded.

I have been calling it periwinkle but I am not sure of the color. Do you happen to know if they made this bag in periwinkle (or cornflower) or what shades of blue it actually came in?

1- We need to see photos of the rest of the bag.

2- It might be, or maybe from the early 1990s.

With some bags made outside the US, the quality control may not have been as good - sometimes the wrong creed or serial number would be stamped. But the quality of the skins was usually very close to the US-made bags. Coaches from Costa Rica and Italy were just as good as any made in the US. I've always felt the leather on the Chinese-made "originals" wasn't exactly the same as the older bags but many people don't agree. Maybe I'm being unfair and comparing it to older bags where the leather has already been used and conditioned.

From the number of complaints I've read on the other board, I don't think the quality of the current leathers is even close to the older bags. I'm not talking about the thickness of the leather although there's a BIG difference there, but the quality and the durability. Coach is trying so many different colors and different kinds of finishes and they don't seem to be testing them to see how they hold up in everyday use.

When you see complaints about leather, like the metallics cracking and flaking and some leathers changing color like white turning yellow over time, then it means Coach doesn't care about how long the leather lasts because buyers who are just buying because a bag is the current "hot style" don't either, they'll just stop using it and buy something new. With the old pre-China Coaches, durability was a lot more important than fashion. But obviously, you make a lot more money selling to fashionistas who buy a new style every month or three than you do to someone who's looking for a bag that will last 10 or 20 years.

If you go to this posting, I had the bag authenticated here a little over a month ago.
in posts 12099 and 12101 Hyacinth Authenticates the bag as a "possibly late 980's court bag"

this is in the last "authenticate" thread, before it was closed. I would be HAPPY to provide as many pictures as the eBayer would like to see.

The only colors in the few catalogs that I have are Navy and a slightly lighter shade just called Blue except for a brighter blue called Sapphire from Spring 1993. I've posted a pic below but the old catalog colors often weren't very accurate and the pic isn't very good. The first color I remember being called Periwinkle is the one used in the Sonoma bags and that was lighter with more of a lavender tone. I've never seen a bag in Sapphire in real life but it sounds like that might be what you have.

I had one too, I think the Mini-Cs either came a few months after the standard C pattern or may have been made for the outlets.

The regular Zoe is also one of the bags that sometimes didn't use YKK zippers.

Thank You so much! I had seen one similar to it called a Zoe but it was listed on ebay then immediatly removed because it was "no longer available" so I wasnt suuure since that was all the info I could find on it.
Once again Hyacinth THANKS! You are the greatest ;)

So I know I did this backwards. I spotted this keychain on ebay for pretty cheap and just received it today. I know next to nothing about keychains so I was hoping an expert here could tell me if it is real and perhaps what style it is. Thanks!

Oops. I forgot the format. Sorry!

That's a highly-faked style and unfortunately you got one of the fakes. Contact the seller and insist on a full refund. Keychains should always be authenticated, especially the metal ones.

Just for starters - the Coach logo on the back doesn't use Coach's trademarked font, the Cs on the front of the Heart charm are also the wrong shape and are NOT Coach's distinctive Cs that are used on their Signature bags, the colors are too red, the stones in the open heart should be pink, the hangtag is NOT the kind Coach uses, and there are too many links in the chain.

ALWAYS examine the shapes of the Cs and the letters in the Coach logos. Here's the real one:

Thank you. I thought it looked and felt funny. I have emailed the seller and hopefully she will be easy to work with. Thanks so much for your expertise and next time I will ****************** before buying!

If the seller doesn't turn out to be "easy to work with", don't hesitate to file a Dispute and to escalate it to a claim since fakes by definition are SNAD (Significantly Not As Described). Feel free to send the seller this direct link to my post and to also use it if you file a SNAD claim with Ebay - the photo of the genuine keychain in my post is right from Coach's files:

Thank you for all your help. I have already offered the seller a link if she would like. Although I am sad it is a fake, I am so very glad you are here to let me know that it is!
